can anyone explain to me just how and why the jw's confidently believe that jesus came and "inspected" all the other religions and found every one lacking and failing his expectations except the little group of bible students who went on to become the jw's?.

this is the biggest gap between history, logic and common sense and wt belief, to me.

more ludicrous than all the propehecies put together.. i'd be really interested to know all the different strands of this.

Why? While most JWs don't really think of 1919 much and I doubt most even know the formula to get there, the date serves as something that reassures JWs that their leadership is special. They had to be chosen, otherwise their crazy shit just wouldn't make sense. How could someone put trust in a group of men if they weren't guided and directed by God?

Since JWs are programmed to trust only wts, it's easy for them to buy into this idea especially since no other group of men on earth taught what Bible Students did regarding trinity, soul and hellfire. Right? Or should we say, so they think.

I don't remember when this crap had began to be taught and in what form since there was no gb prior to the 70s and until '43 official doctrine was that Jesus returned in 1874. Also some scriptures are used to mean literal numbers and some as figurative, in other words wts pulled shit out of their ass and made it fit so the result was 1919. From the fall of 1914 they use the Rev11:3 to represent 1260 days or 3.5 years which takes them to early 1918 where they claim the 2 witnesses were killed. This supposed to represent Rutherford and the gang going off to prison and the next set of numbers from Rev 11:11 had to obviously be symbolic, meaning a short time. So after Rutherford got out of jail, this had to be the time when Jesus chose them. I think that's how this goes but I can't believe that I accepted this nonsense for so long, while really never thinking too deeply on this very thing.

People leave the Org but don't drop the doctrine?

this deserved its own thread.

one thing i have observed being able to speak freely to individuals now about the wtbts is that even though they fade, they hold one to all or a portion of the doctrine.. if you examine the doctrine openly and fully you will see it has as many holes in it as the org does.

although it may appeal to you it doesn't make it sound scripturally.

Those who are df or faders for their own reasons most likely still believe in wts doctrine to large degree and feel that they are either not worthy of God's salvation or that they want to do their own thing for the time being and will run back to mother once the Armageddon clouds are on horizon. There must be a large number of them out there.

I would speculate that a small number of those will examine wts and finally break the wts yoke and many will end up on sites like this one at one point in their lives. There isn't many faders here who believe in wts lie, actually the only ones that might still believe a lie are newer members who just woke up to the reality and are going through stages of putting pieces together as they realize how deep the wts lie runs.

And then there are those who still believe in the bible god which in itself probably is not much better than believing in what wts says. So which is a greater delusion?

Great opportunity for witnesses to read some older material, truth never gets old some would say (well maybe not jw since their truth is very liquid in form), maybe they can read studies in the scriptures, I hear those books are classic. Especially vol 3 with the in-depth study on the pyramid and vol 7 might be another gem they should read as it's posthumous work of great Pastor Russell. Who knew, that watchtower was able to publish such brilliant material and yet be so humble not to force their slaves brothers to read these true classics.

It's this type of propaganda that makes born ins fear the outside world. Yes, all the worldlies want to have sex with jws because jws are so good looking and they dress so respectfully that worldies are always jealous of jws. It's so bad in the world, in fact because we live in the last days, it's worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. All the world is into sex or devil music. Oh, almost forgot, all worldies are dishonest and only jws are righteous who would never steal, bribe or rape anyone - well that's unless wts oks it or there is no second witness to the crime one might just get away with it.

With wts articles and talks that portray the outside world in such a negative way, it's no wonder they think there is nowhere else to go or are afraid of looking at exjw sites as if we're all controlled by the devil. Stupid cult.

i'll probably never do it but i was dabbling with the idea of faking an interest in this organisation, getting "recruited", attending all the meetings and pretending to be into it, all while wearing a hidden camera and mic.

maybe i could make a documentary using the footage.. any thoughts?

If you become super interested, and do major ass kissing you might get dunked in 3 months, heard of those before but who would want to go through the ordeal of major ass kissing.

Like someone said, what's the point? So you'll get a video of boring meetings, of dubs saying how close the end is, how they look forward to living in a peaceful new earth..... So what exactly will that accomplish? Chances of you stumbling upon a pedophile, are very small. Uncovering some sort of fraud that wts does like how they charge dubs for assemblies or parking that's included in their DC contracts? Won't happen unless you're extremly lucky, again chances of any juicy info caught on tape is like winning a lottery. You're not going to get to an elderhood for a good 3 years if you're super ass kisser and I'm talking about minimum times I've heard of people moving up. WTS isn't a cult where you can get some material advantage, or in fact any advantage to yourself of your family so why bother with a group of boring people while forcing yourself to preach lies to others just to get dunked for a prank?

A lot of congregations have good people that are deluded and under mind control. There is no occult practices, there is no wierd enough stuff going on that would make most people interested in a documentary. Most witnesses are boring, have no lives and live with a hope this world will end soon so they can start enjoying real life - all this while they grow older and their life passes them by.

soooo, i've been sudying the bible with a 10 year old girl for two years now...her mother recently got baptised.

since i've been having doubts about the org i've centered our discussions on god and the bible and less on pleasing the org...i was doing fine.... until i invited an older pioneer sister to accompany me on the study....heeeeeeesh...she changed the topic from having manners to becoming an unbaptised publisher....she went onnnnn and onnnnn about "don't you want to please jehovah and jesus, wouldn't you like to put in a form every month and you do love jehovah and want to tell others about him,right?

" i was so upset.. i treat and love this girl as if she was my little sister and i do not want her to nose dive into this religion...she's a child for god's sake!.

And where exactly are we to find this precious requirement in the bible? Funny how pioneers think they're all that because they write numbers on a piece of paper and hand that in to their overlords.

Too bad, the mother got sucked into the cult, but since it's been recently the mother might not programmed enough to ignore the truth about wts, maybe give her some carful pointers so the mother can free herself before being too deeply involved in the cult which might suck in the child as well. 10 year olds should be enjoying life, kids and alook forwards to higher education so they can have a chance at a better life. 10 year old is too young to even understand the horrors that the bible potrays as acts of kindness or justice.

people like djeggnog aren't interested in reality because they're here with an alternative motive. This could be another incarnation of Renaa or Alice/Spade/Maze. Either way debating a topic with these people is purely a waste of time because they're posting their vomit here to irritate people and not to talk about real world. We have most educated minds in the world, entire country of Israel, believing destruction took place in 586/7BC but to most uneducated groups on the planet, and to most dishonest publishing company obviously 607BC is a correct date. Is it really worth the time spent trying to show these sort of people the facts, the facts these people don't care about? I really doubt it.

my question is how do you get a hold of stuff like the "finished mystery" "the divine plan of the ages" and other pertinent false doctrine that has been swept under the rug and locked in the coffers at wt headquarters?

i feel so helpless because if i show my wife info on the net she will just write it off as apostate and altered like we have all been trained to think.

Thecrushed: It sucks when a mate finds out you no longer believe any of the shit. I think many of us went through the uncertain phase and some made it without divorce and some didn't. Think of a plan how you may deal with the MIL and your wife if they decide to team up against you. Problem with wts are vast and deep so you can start of talking about a date and jump to UN or child abuse and they won't listen but keep on blabbering about how wts is loving and gods org.......

Stay on topic and stay calm and get them to stay on topic. Since they like to use the old light, or wts makes mistakes, or are imperfect try to use the latest dishonesty in their mags. Pull info on last year's Oct and Nov public watchtowers dealing with 607BC and use the quotes in those articles, or you can call them mis quotes. If you can find the actual books in a library and show the context to MIL and your wife they may be less inclined to dismiss everything else - but then again we are talking about cult members who are programmed to defend the cult by any and all means. I suggest you take a look at Carl Jonsson's rebuttal of the two articles I mentioned above here and here.

It's better to use physical publications in showing the problems as they may dismiss pdfs are being altered. Whatever you decide you may want to discuss with them in case they will corner you, make a plan just in case so you can show them clearly that you're not being lied to by "apostates" or that you are choosing to leave god while wts is holy.

what if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate jehovah's witnesses as an organization?.

they ask this question at the bottom of page 23 of the july wt, and i thought the wording was kind of strange.

the target is not jws "the people" (as in nazi germany) but the org alone.

What if? I think it would be great, start with GB, their lawyers and their accountants and work down the chain of command. If there were seven hanging stooges maybe the rest would get a hint and confess to the fraud that they are perpetrating upon 7 million ignorant people. Love to see wts go down.

But what if, wts feels there is no more money to squeeze out of the 7+ million of uneducated lower middle class and poor and they decide to move large assets into the safe haven, create a false flag event to get the government involved as the top group disappears with cash in their pockets while the rest of jw think it's really the government attacking god's people.... Nah, I must have read too many conspiracy theories. :)
