does anyone have scans of these references?

joseph rutherford, the second president of the wts, believed his spiritual enlightenment came from angels because the holy spirit had ceased functioning since 1918. the angels channeled information into his mind from god residing on the star alcyone.

this is an honest question on my part.
someone on this board asked me 'how do you know' a while ago and i really struggled with it.
in fact, it was a turning point for me.

Stop making excuses. If parts of the bible were from god, he would want us to know which scriptures or whole books were inspired by him because after all, those would have been the words god wanted us to know otherwise why inspire someone to go through the trouble of writing what god told them only to end up in a book that contains myths, and mixed with uninspired words?
It appears you claim the bible isn't that important for faith but faith in Christ is and yet your whole faith is based on the book. Without the bible, you wouldn't know of bible Jesus since that's the source for your original knowledge regarding Jesus called the Christ. For majority of Christian world bible is the sole book where they come to learn of Christ, so you see, the bible is important for those who come to know Christ.
Same with the 'tests' of what you might be wearing, or listening to, or whatever. These are designed to trip someone up. They are not a sincere request for a sign (which is a lack of faith). You don't believe for a moment that God is real or that anyone hears anything in spirit.
Another empty excuse. I can claim to hear Papa Smurf speak to me and if you don't believe in him, it's your problem because you lack faith. There is no trick. If your voice is from God or Jesus it wouldn't be that difficult for the voice to tell you what my name is or refer to me by such. If that's testing god, he must be very insecure being and cower at any simple question that's too difficult for him to answer. He can only answer those that have faith? Where the hell was he when I was looking for him - oh yes, I just didn't have enough of the faith that he deemed was worthy to answer, right?
There is a reason why I usually don't respond to voice hearing people, sorry I got involved in this crazy exchange or words.
more important than the reduction in the size of the new magazine is that the watchtower will be actively promoting its website and encouraging people use it to download magazines.
my concern is that this has the potential to lead to an increase in growth for the watchtower.. the door-to-door preaching work has been one of the most inefficient means imaginable to gain converts, and done little more than tie up the time of active jws.
now, by directing people to the internet, witnesses can spread their message at an alarming rate for little cost.. do you feel that this has the potential to lead to a surge in growth of jehovah's witnesses?
Internet reason is just a diversion from why their magazines are being cut in half. If they didn't use the internet trend excuse and spin their website as a success, the letter regarding wt and awakes would sound very negative. The letter was carefully written, so to make the negative news sound not so bad.
They've been warning witnesses for years regarding the internet and now they're going to tell us it's a great tool to bring people in? Doubt it. Internet is the tool that helps witnesses leave the cult.
The new site will be unified so it's simpler to administer and probably cheaper. Maybe they will make it more appealing to witnesses to keep them glued to their side longer with less time to surf the net and visit those evil apostate site which might wake them up.

Most people with problems don't admit to having a problem - especially when it has to do with mental illness. Some can live normal lives while others end up on the street. One thing worse than not seeking professional help is when a group of people with similar symptoms get together and support each other to believe that their condition is normal.
If Jesus/God spoke to people He could easily reveal things about the unknown without taking offense to being questioned. Stories of Abraham, Moses, and others we read in the bible show that Jehovah has been questioned (you can imply it's like a test to question God) on matters and God didn't simply strike them dead. If a voice can't reveal something unknown about external world it can be assumed that the internal voiced being heard feeds on the hearer's memories/ideas. Since a hearer of a voice doesn't know me, it's unlikely for the voice to tell the person my real name or anything personal about me that I haven't posted already here. Obviously God/Jesus/Satan could pass that information to the hearer.
Bible is a book of myths and fables and without it we wouldn't know the fable of Jesus Christ which again means that without past knowledge of the bible there would be no voice from Jesus in someone's head but rather a hearer most likely would imagine the internal voice to be someone familiar to them, maybe a dead grandma, dead mom, or maybe a smurf :)

tec - what makes you think any of the bible is inspired? Because you need to believe some parts are, just to satisfy your own belief system?
Maybe tell us exactly which parts of the bible are inspired, or better yet, re-write the bible in a way that only the inspired sections are in your new version. I am also referring to God's inspired verses (passages) not man inspired so you don't misinterpret what I wrote. Maybe Aguest can do likewise in another room and then we can compare the two to see if the voices you both hear are from the same source. Any other voice hearers should do likewise and then we could confirm this new revised bible is truly the completely inspired book of God.
Otherwise, medication might help, or at least some therapy to overcome the deep rooted belief system that's creating this voice "phenomenon".
i know that some of you don't personally think that the gb wants to cause harm or is only after the money, but after reading some posts on here, it seems like some of you do think that the gb is evil.. .
if you think about it, that doesn't make sense, but here is just one question.
why would the gb create a time limit on their organization if they believed it to be false?
You can stretch the time limit like they've done for almost 100 years. End was supposed to come in 1914, then Russell said maybe 1915, 1918, 1925..... Generation means this...no no no, it means this, now generation is overlapping - overlapping generation doesn't even make sense and yet dubs don't blink. What they're doing makes perfect sense even if it's total lunacy.
Time limit was part of the organization from the beginning so there is no point of getting rid of it now, so best thing to do is continue pushing it as far as they can.
It doesn't matter what GB believe, as long as the followers believe and continue wasting time and money. WTS has enough assets to sustain itself for next hundred years, even if they end up selling off assets. Dates is what made the borg and is probably what will break it because their time is running out in a world where theories and teachings can be put to a test and their true history can easily be revealed. If 50% of witnesses leave that only means that 50% of building will have to be sold off and wts will re-invest the profits in something else - gold, stocks, bonds, land... The other 50% will continue to follow the ever nearing end.
i dont know where to begin.
i do know it might get lengthy so i'm sorry for that.
and also many thanks to all who read the whole thing.
Your feelings can create a problem for both of you. You're starting the relationship not entirely honest even though you have the right motives. If you tell her you knew all the stuff about wts now you may lose her trust but you don't want to fall in the trap where your feelings for her grow to the point of returning to the cult because that's what she'll want.
If she's not in, you may have a chance so start researching wts with her as if you've never done so prior. If she sees the wts for what it is, your relationship may continue to grow stronger or it will be short lived but at least you'll know where she stands after researching the wts. This can also open a possibility of her telling the elders stuff that may get you df, so you have to play it safe.
If she has some doubts and isn't baptized she might be more willing to research with an open mind. Maybe ease her into what wts is by showing her that you were researching 607 articles wts printed last year and how they misquote the authors and how they ignore the important facts found on the tablets to force 607BC on the jws. Use Jonsson's rebuttals as they're really well written and easy to understand.
this is an honest question on my part.
someone on this board asked me 'how do you know' a while ago and i really struggled with it.

I don't believe in any "holy book" nor their gods. I can't say if there is a god or not because there just isn't a real proof of its existence and I don't buy into the whole creation complexity explanation. I find it odd that people hear Jesus talk to them but also claim that not all bible books are from god, that's somewhat picking and choosing what one wants to belief out of a book that claims to be all inspired. Voices talk to these ones but can't actually reveal something extraordinary to them that might shed some light to those around them. God is Love is always a good joke claimed by many who claim to hear his voice - which usually is Jesus too in our parts of the world.
If there is a god, the closest thing I can think of comparing god to would be similar to a game creator who makes a game and doesn't care if the characters in the game kill each other or help each other. If god is someone like what religions describe, one would assume that a loving being would at least show up from time to time, or send a rep to correct the major wrongs mankind is doing. Christians who were burned at the stake by the thousands obviously didn't bother god. Exterminations of many species of life doesn't bother god. Proliferation of weapons that can wipe out entire world doesn't get god involved in any way. So what exactly would get this god to do something about anything if it were a loving god as described by many religions? So it's reasonable to conclude that god either doesn't exist or it just doesn't care contrary to all the religious descriptions of it.
Surprising Aguest's voice didn't tell her to show up and participate in the discussion.
upon first glimpse, i thought this was a specialized service of a legitimate law firm, but as it turns out, it's simply a selective presentation of exploitable religious issues enacted by a former elder (william bowen).. http://jwchildcustody.com/ .
dont allow your children to be turned against you!.
statistics show that over 1,000 custody cases are fought each year involving jehovahs witness children.
Preparing for child custody packet info is found here
It appears the info provided in the booklet is for non-jw lawyers to help jws when going through divorce to a non-jw or more likely exjw (apostate). JW lawyers obviously don't need the info themselves. While wts may not provide lawyers for jws I'm sure JWs can request or hire JW lawyers if they wish to, and obviously some choose to do so.
Blood issue is directly caused by wts and because of HLC, it's more likely that wts will provide their lawyer to fight for no blood when the issue comes up.
Seems that wts apologists seem to point out that some xjw charge money for their services and are out there to make money. Some xjws put a lot of their time into their work and there really is nothing wrong with them choosing to charge others for their services. While here, we share freely the info with others, we are under no obligation to provide anyone with the documents we have nor share our past experiences. If someone does it for a fee it shouldn't be automatically looked on as if they're making a business out of it. After all, any non-jw or xjw who is going through a divorce or is fighting to save the life of their kid may benefit from paying a small fee to obtain any beneficial info they can instead of searching the web for free copies and free advise from ex members.
Somehow apologists forget to mention how much wts lawyers get paid for these cases and where does the money come from to pay these lawyers? I doubt the lawyers work for free but rather charge wts, who gets money from general jws through their www contribution.
so i'm looking to go to university, as is the norm.
what are the most important things to consider choosing a school and location to study?
and what would you say are the most important things to do in order to benefit from that education and succeed in that field?
First I would look at the career and the pay that you can expect upon graduation and the top wage associated with reaching the height of your career but you also have to somewhat enjoy the career itself. Sometimes we want to pursuit a career that we will really enjoy but reality is the pay may never be that great for us to go ahead with it, or a career that pays a lot but will really hate it. Initially our extrinsic rewards are more important to our satisfaction but once those needs are reached we look to satisfy out intrinsic needs.
Some schools offer better programs than others in specific field of study so you may want to look at that but living costs and tuition fees may play a part in your decision making. Getting too deep in debt may not be the wisest decision so you may want to weigh the pros and cons of spending more to go to one school vs another.
