  i am still going through the questioning my faith stage as i just discovered the inconsistencies of the org.

  it was 1914 that really threw me for a loop.

  i have never been completely sold on the "new light" policy.

  the wt isnt alone...i didn't realize how many nut jobs use this math to forward their prophetic agendas.

  i am very amazed by what seems to be an uprising inside and outside of the jehovah's witness religion against the governing body and watchtower corporation.. it seems that all the scriptures about babylon and the apostasy apply to them today.

  Interesting Terry,

  I realize the ideas been kicking around for centuries but,

  I never realized that Sir Issac Newton had a share in it 300 yrs ago. Probably where Miller got his ideas from.

  i'm not saying i even agree with the current reasoning behind the 1914 date, but you can't argue that with jw's, but in my latest research and personal study, i ran into the kryptonite for the 1914 date.

  right out of "bible topics for discussion" is "chronology" in which it states 1914 ce ends gentile times.

  Hey 1944s a bit off, why not add, or subtract a zero, up to you and you get 1945. end of ww2 now thats a reason to start your own religion.

  is this seriously one of the forum's rules to follow?

  how can that be so when this whole forum is based on inciting hatred towards one religion.....jehovah's witnesses.......wow this is funny!

  Hi srappy,

  I was like you. Totally upholding any and all beleifs.

  I decided to strengthen my faith and knowledge regarding our stand on blood as I faced major surgery.

  My study, was to help me explain to the surgeon our beliefs and avoid blood.

  What I learned, the real facts about blood and the socitey's history, on this and other subjects truley shocked me, as a loyal member, former pioneer and MS

  That was last year and now I no longer consider myself any part of it. I am sad because it was a great hope, but now I realize just a pipe dream and a very selfish one.

  I also learnt that a former member of our governing body left the fold and wrote an expose of the religion, which was an eye opening and life changing read. Also two other members of the same group have dubious sexual histories. And they are governig body supposedly being used by God and feeding us with accurate knowledge.

  I could go on and on with examples, but it means nothing untill you realize yourself you are being duped. And it is, a rude awakening.

  that is the bottom line for a witness.

  i have tried so many times to reason with witnesses, and they react the same as i did almost all my life.

  the only success i am having is hopefully planting some seeds, because that worked with me, over a period of time.. many threads on here describe reasonings and great points designed to "wake up" witnesses.

  I have noticed the same thing Bonafide,

  I only recently woke up, but in trying to get my wife to do the same, these are typical responses that I get, even though she agrees with me on many other points.

  It is years of indoctrination. I think the majority of Jdubs today are born ins, children of the the pre 75 intake . That makes over 40 years of combined beleif and passed down information.

  I really, didnt do much real study, just belived what my parents told me for 18 years. With that and attending three brainwashing sessions a week by the time your an adult you truly belive its the only truth

  Whilst you make some excellent points Boyzone, when I was in I would have still dismissed your reasons. They really do belive they are chosen and doing the right thing.

  IMO they can only wake up when they are ready, you can sow seeds of doubt but they must be inqusitive and intellegent enough to investigate further, if only to reasure themselves about their beleifs.

  And thats how I and many others find out that all is not well.

  Revalations interpritations and shit!

  is the wtbts explanation of revalation realistic?.

  [apart from the obvious 144k crap and trumpet blasts symbolizing conventions].

  do others have similar beliefs and interpret the wild beast etc similarly or is it unique to them.. is it a realistic interpritation?.

  So basically the teachings are similar or the same as Russell taught and he stole them anyway.

  I realize it is self rightous and self serving and I will do some research but do other religions have anything similar in their understandings as to the symboligies.
