It wasn't possible for me to fade, so I readily admited to a fraction of the double life I had been living for years. I told an elder who called to check on me he better get a JC together, he wanted to talk to me first, so I did and told him I was in a relationship with a "worldly" girl. At the JC, I admitted a bit more but on my terms. They pressed for details about the relationship, I told them I we had sex 2 time......most every day.....at least......for a couple months. They pressed for details and I told them they didn't need to know any more. I told them I drink to excess, associate with worldly people, engage in "thrill sports", accept evolution, don't accept the bible as god's word (when they asked why I didn't bring a bible, they really didn't like that), etc. Didn't take them long to decide to DF, and I have never been back. It was a huge relief.

I have a BS in Civil Engineering, BS in Geology, and a MS in Geology. I got all degrees while in the borg, using the excuse that it would help the regional building committee. Aparently the higher up JWs bought it, as I was a ministerial servant through all degrees, but many others looked down on me for pursuing an education.

In additon to publishing facts and statistics, the world's largest science agency, USGS, has also directly tackled the question "Are Earthquakes Really on the Increase?"
Thier answer is found here:
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/learn/topics/increase_in_earthquakes.php
" We continue to be asked by many people throughout the world if earthquakes are on the increase. Although it may seem that we are having more earthquakes, earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have remained fairly constant.
A partial explanation may lie in the fact that in the last twenty years, we have definitely had an increase in the number of earthquakes we have been able to locate each year. This is because of the tremendous increase in the number of seismograph stations in the world and the many improvements in global communications. In 1931, there were about 350 stations operating in the world; today, there are more than 8,000 stations and the data now comes in rapidly from these stations by electronic mail, internet and satellite. This increase in the number of stations and the more timely receipt of data has allowed us and other seismological centers to locate earthquakes more rapidly and to locate many small earthquakes which were undetected in earlier years. The NEIC now locates about 20,000 earthquakes each year or approximately 50 per day. Also, because of the improvements in communications and the increased interest in the environment and natural disasters, the public now learns about more earthquakes.
According to long-term records (since about 1900), we expect about 17 major earthquakes (7.0 - 7.9) and one great earthquake (8.0 or above) in any given year."

Are You Still Interested in Looking for Truth?
by cameo-d inwhat are our origins?
what has this life all been for?
is there anything after this life?
-

Indeed. That is why I am a scientist (geologist).
Thanks to advances in science, the average 1st grader knows more than any of the bible writers. A basic education and willing observation will teach you a lot.
I only look into scripture when I have to for discussion purposes. Like I said, a first grader could tell you more truths than the bible can.

There were many pioneers on disability. I could understand that if they wrote letters, phone calls, etc. But most were out with the group, going door to door without problem.

did you find JW's expected products/services for free from other JW's?
by highdose injust wondering if i'm the only one whose experianced this?.

Individual JWs and the organization most definately expect services and products for free. If you have a specialized skill that can be used by the regional building committee, you will likely be expected to work as much for them as you do at your secular job.
