per a "top secret, confidential, burn this after you read it" letter to all boes, dated march 2, 2010, but not read in our congregation until this past week:.

new "kingdom ministry" school for all elders and ministerial servants, to be held (in the us anyway) between november 2010 and january 2011.. 6 hours of jaw dropping tedium instruction for ms, 9 for elders.

ms session to be held on a sunday, elders on friday and saturday.. the "super secret surprise", for elders only: a new textbook will be released to be studied at this "school".

Why did my old friend do this to our friendship? Please help me understand.

i am new here because i want to ask a question that my friend couldn't make me understand why.

i hope your members can.

my friend of over 16 yrs lives several states and 1,000 miles away from me.

I would suggest this:

Take a good look at some of the material that has been laid out for you here. Let your friend know that you, too are "studying" the JW beliefs and that you are truly amazed at what you are finding. You begin to see what he is attracted by. He will feel that "Holy Spirit" has begun its' work with you and possibly that he is an instrument of the holy spirit. This may "level the playing field" and give you a position from which you can truly help your friend.

There are some serious issues and inconsistencies in this religion. If you really want to help your friend, you may have to "get your hands a little dirty." But what you have seen so far, the control that they exert over thier rank-and-file, can also be seen from the inside as a protection for the "faithful." They turn off their thinking ability and simply trust that this earthly organization is looking out for their best interests.

Holy Spirit is Holy Spirit. A man-made organization is a man-made organization.

Pedophiles in your congregation??

i'm listening to the "six screens of the watchtower" broadcast from october 25, 2008 [yeah, i know, i'm waaay behind...], discussing pedophilia... that broadcast caused me to look up the current status of 'pedophilia notification' in the u.s.a..... rebel8 posted a link sometime back that gave locations of pedophiles in one's (u.s.a.) neighborhood... that portion of the link is, unfortunately, not working right now.... i decided to check out my [old] site, http://www.nsopw.gov/core/offendersearchcriteria.aspx to see if it still functioned the same way.... again, unfortunately, that site is also no longer giving out maps of one's area.... but, as pointed out in rebel8's posted link, pedophiles tend to move around.

this was also mentioned in the six screens broadcast by a lady named "lilly".... the new versions of both sites simply allow one to input the name of someone suspected to be a pedophile... not as effective, imo, but perhaps the cost of updating the maps due to pedophiles' high mobility became prohibitive.. so, here's my suggestion... using the 'name' search function, check out every name in .

Jordan, your reply sounds reasonable and thought-out. Also to be mentioned is the fact that those so "marked" in the JW's are not just elders or ones in the leadership. The statistic is the entire group, wheras the stat for the Catholics is just the priests.

my statement regarding the probability of a higher percentage og pedophiles in among JW's than other church groups is only conjecture. I base it on the trust that used to exist among the witnesses before all of this hit the fan. Now there is near-hysteria. And I'll stand by my earlier statement that there is a big difference between sex offenders and pedophiles.
