  I think I landed my dream job, y'all!!!

  ok those of you that know me personally know that i sit on a ton of event committees, usually for non-profits benefitting kids.

  yes, it is very rewarding but there is no paycheck.

  this has not been an issue for us.

  Also, for about three years I've been coordinating weddings and school carnivals and what not.
  (That was supposed to earn me money too, LOL, but by the time I finished covering my expenses etc it ended up just being favors for friends. Again, no paycheck wasn't an issue.

  Every JW wedding I've ever been to had an unpaid 'director of the feast' to organize things. Very often the same few women would make the rounds and do a ton of weddings.

  Well, last week I was called by the Executive Director of a local chapter of a nationally known non-profit and asked to come in and sit for an interview. The position title is Director of Events. (YEAHH)

  Hmmm, what nationally known 'non-profit' borganization do we all know and love???

  I was pretty upfront, as they knew me anyway, and I said listen y'all--I've *never* been paid to sit on one of these committees; it's been strictly voluntary.

  ...that let unpaid volunteers rise in the ranks to positions of oversight???

  No problem, they said.
  No problem, they said.
  No problem, they said.
  This is an exempt (salaried) position (management). You can work from home if you want. As long as the events are coordinated and properly handled we don't care if we never see you in the office.

  What nationally known non-profit organization lets its people work from home, and is so desperate for new members that no amount of conditions and stipulations is a problem for them... at first.

  To make a long story short, I'm supposed to meet with the Board of Directors on Friday, where they will probably make me a job offer.

  
  Does this 'job offer' include total immersion?

  *****I just wanted to tell you all, especially you at-home moms, to get your asses out there and serve on committes. Contact a non-profit in your area and volunteer 10 hours a month. You will meet the most amazing people.

  Yes, if your hours are up to the national average, you can have a part in a life-saving work, meet amazing people, and maybe even have the privilege of conducting a free home bible study? Admit it, Lisa, you're going back to the Watchtower, aren't you? And you're getting a jump on auxiliary pioneer hours for this month (what are they now, 20 hrs/mo?)

  several days ago i posted a topic about how the newly reinstated could be disfellowshipped again for failing to attend meetings or particiapte in field service.

  (this was based on the issue of lacking works that befit repentance.

  ) i used cautionary language about how this ""can"" happen, but was accused of making "dogmatic assertions" and that the organization book and the flock book never authorize such, and most of all the s-77 form sent into the society would trigger a co visit were it to state such things.

  A friend of mine was disfellowshipped, got reinstated, then was disfellowshipped again a few months later for not going to meetings or out in service. I have no idea what was written on the form, but he was told that it was because he was not showing repentence.

  BTW, as far as the DFd person in question knows--and he had a very good relationship with one of the elders--this was not a trumped-up charge to get him because they didnt like him; the elders simply decided that he was not repentent. The congregation had had spate of MSs getting removed/reproved/DFd, and the feeling was that the elder body was trying to crack down on what the CO was chiding them as a series of rash appointments. (Ironically, the same CO had previously told that body of elders that the next time he came around, they had BETTER have a few names to put forth for appointment, or he'd conclude that they weren't doing enough to help the young men reach out.)

  I dont understand the argument. It DOES happen. As has been stated a million times, you can get DFd for sneezing too loud, and it will make no difference what is/was in writing.

  i have only posted a few times so far, and i dont want to sound like a constant complainer or whiner, but i really need someone to talk to and some feed back.

  we used to go to the elders with problems, and i have turned and leaned on you all now.

  first i would like to thank you all for your kind and caring feedback.. my daughter has broken my heart.

  Since we know that it was dreaded, frothing apostates, followed by Mr. Bates of the Guardian (the latter having been vilified by the WT PR machine as biased and innacurate, and the former long considered under the direct control of Satan and his deemunz) that brought this to their attention, am I correct in reading that the society is actually thanking apostates for pointing out the fact that they were whoring with the Wild Beast?

  i found out the other day that i have endometrial cancer.

  needless to say, i'm shocked, angry and desperate.

  i blame this on my incompetent doctor who did absolutely nothing when i first went to him two years ago and said "there's something wrong here.

  well, the girl can downright sing!

  personally, it should have come down to kelly vs. tamyra, but i digress.. questions:.

  I think Kelly will do pretty well--at least a couple of albums. Her career has a huge leg up because she's had an entire summer of PR before she ever releases anything. I think she's got a good voice, but don't know if she's got the stage presence for a long career. Maybe she'll learn that. The songs they sang (which I guess are going to be the songs on the first single) are pretty bad songs, especially the [something about This Moment] song.

  RJ could hook up with a boy band and sell eight gazillion albums. And Christina Christian could end up a model/singer/actress.

  I think Tamyra has the best chance for a long career. She was the total package. Tamyra made a bad choice of songs the week she got booted... not bad for her voice range, but bad for audience popularity.

  Lisa, the pity-vote girl you're thinking of is Nikki. She may actually have a career in country, but she really overachieved to make it to the final three.

  BTW, was the guy who won the UK version horrible or what?!?! His duet with Kelly was painful to watch.

  i need some help identifying a berry bush that is in my backyard.

  i have tasted the berries and they are on the sour side, they also have a pit on the inside of them (or at least the one i tried did........gonna wait awhile before i try another).

  whatever they are they have come ripe w/in the past week.
