some comments in another thread got me thinking about this.. i can't imagine any scenario wherein it would be best to cover over pedophilia.
the needs/feelings of the victim was brought up as a possible reason.
i think the needs of society outweigh the needs of the victim six billion to one, but i also think that this means what is good for society is also exactly what is best for the victim.
Well, I guess if the pedophile were dead, there wouldn't be a pressing need. It might still be beneficial--closure, exposing an organizational problem, etc--for things to come to light, but in that case I'd be much more willing to let the victim(s) decide what was best.
Ever OK not to expose an ACTIVE pedophile? I can't think of a reason.

i was watching the hockey game yesterday and i thought i heard 'booing' during canada's national anthem.
earlier in the week the same thing occurred during the raptor's playoff game.. as some are aware canada has been mourning and burying their 4 dead soldiers due to the incompetence of an american fighter pilot who dropped a bomb on them while they were carrying out training exercises.
flags are flying at half-mast as canadians try to make sense of such a careless mistake.. i find it hard to believe any civilized person would show such disrespect to another country to 'boo' them during their national anthem at any time, and more so during a time of mourning because of death caused directly by american hands.. i sincerely hope american media chastised their countrymen who showed such insensitive, classless, ignorant and disrespectful behavior to their neighbours.

I've always thought that the US and Canada had a pretty friendly relationship (thanks in large part to Canadian full-nude gentlemen's establishments) so I was a bit surprised when I first heard it, but I wasn't ready to drop any Nukes on the Canadian capital of Buenos Aires.
What if it turns out that it was, in fact, Americans who booed the Canadian anthem first? I'd still be surprised, but it's only a sporting event, folks. No need to make an international event over it. How about we give you Toledo, Ohio, and call it even?

i have dsl with verizon but their isp side (third party) email accounting and third party billing sucks, having charged me for $400 for some glitch in their system a year ago (totally not my fault) and then they shut me down for not paying it.
their system has too many bureaucrats and nothing seems to happen.
what do you guys find to be a good isp?

I used to stare up at the Silverdome... uh, dome and imagine it falling down. It did fall one winter, when nobody was in it. You could look up and see where they put in new canvas to replace the old. I tried to make sure I sat under the new canvas, just in case the old stuff was ready to come down.
I also used to look at the big ole American Flag that was hanging next to the Marlboro Man and try to guess its height by the people seated below it.

Splurge a little and go for a case with a 400 watt (350 minimum) power supply. Especially if you want to overclock, I'd be suspicious of a case AND PS for $30. I just priced out a new system (wont get one till the new thunderbird procs come out) for gaming, and a good airtight case and separate PS came out to just over 100--though I spent more on the case than I needed.
