Same in our congregation is happening!
Last month only 4 people turned up at the brothers house, i think it was more for the food and drink rather to watch.
If he offers alcoholic drinks i may go also!
just heard of a congregation who has announced a saturday afternoon get-together at an elder's home - to let those who don't have the internet watch the jw tv monthly shows!!!!.
words fail me..

in the past week, i have heard from a number of friends scattered all over the place.
a number of them are very upset over the congregation being required, to send in all monies over $4,000.
a number of these were kh's that were saving to buy land, and or build new kh's.
Although the letter was read in the UK, i have been to several congregations and noticed on their notice board the financial statement with big sums of money (£20,000+) still in their congregation bank account.
So is this arrangement only for USA congregations. And in Europe or specifically UK they can not pull something like this?
last week we had an elder giving a talk, cant remember the title.. the thing that was of interest is the experience he gave:.
"a brother who was working in a hospital had to leave his job which was paying him good money because the nurses wanted to sleep with him and they kept putting notes for him on his desk!".
this is not the first time i hear similar experience.
@ Slidin Fast: I anticipated such comment when i wrote it. Marriage is about trust i think!
@ Chaserious: Thats what the TV shows. Do you believe what you see on TV?

This is not the first time i hear similar experience. A brother or sister at work had their colleagues (at least of them) wanting to have sex with them.
In what world do these people live. I have worked for several years in a "Worldly (tm)" job, and not a window cleaner and never had any work mate female or male approach me to have sex with me.
I might be an ugly person, what about my wife. She is nice looking, and never had any of her managers wanting to have sex with her!
I have heard JWs fucking each other more than than i have heard there was relations between work colleagues.
When would the WT stop giving false experiences or unrealistic ones.
These days if a person gives a wrong look at work, you will sitting in a disciplinary HR meeting risking your job!
has this ever happened to anyone who has been df'd here?
did you walk into a room with a circle of chairs for the whole body of elders?.
shana.
In my experience, had couple JCs, there was not specific setting and it was always 3 elders with notes.
As long as you know how the system works, you can 80% of times get out of it with just either public reprove or few months of restrictions.
Or throw the whole case out of the window due to insufficient or contradicting evidence and the person reporting you gets in trouble!
i had a thought today that might prove interesting.
i'm wondering if there are any illegal immigrants who are witnesses?
surely it would be a great position to be in as an illegal immigrant because you could play up your plight and prey on the sympathies of others within the congregation.
@Blondie. As usual very good research and answers to the point!
I was looking for such reference myself since a similar situation rose in our congregation.
A person who was studying abroad and decided to visit the uk on a student visa (later on it appeared the intention is to stay) continued their study and then got peptised and shortly applied for regular auxiliary pioneer and got it.
To add in insult to injury, the person openly says "I spent all my time in ministry and dont go to college".
This person should be studying in the college not going fulltime in the ministry.
They are breaking the law and several grounds and they get privileges in the congregation.
Double standards? I think No standards!
Da Furious
obviously they feel a window washer job is a job anyone can do anywhere in he world .
and makes great money, yea right.. so what are all those 'approved jobs?'.
add to the list of any and all building skills, cleaning type jobs.
@blondie very true. I also moved congregations and countries and the difference between each is shocking.
The most annoying bit is same country different congregation and the BOE have their own rules!

I would say all shift work is disapproved! I know of an elder who had to give up his position due to shift work.
Everything mentioned in addition to these pyramid schemes (Herbalife, Avon, etc...)
i cant figure out when the auntie and uncle thing started or why.
it sure is a peadophiles dream to have a kid they dont know call them uncle!
they are now in a special relationship.
It is a cultural thing as others have pointed.
In my native tongue we have a special word to address people who are the age of our parents. But there is no translation to this in English so the alternative is Uncle/Auntie. This is done just out of respect and not using the persons first name.
This is done inside and outside of the congregation and it is not something tied to JWs only.
i can't imagine for one second that the wbt$ supply the apathy trollies they'll make the r&f pay for them.
or does the wbt$ supply the apathy trolley and charge over the odds for them?.
so...........do jws construct them?.
Before WT supplied them there was a brother in France or Spain providing them for around €100. I think this was the case for a year or so. Then suddenly congregations received a letter asking them to stop ordering them privately and the trolleys are now part of the literature order but the congregation has to pay for them separately.
As phizzy mentioned the cost a congregation has to pay in that range. The cost involves the cost of making the cart and shipping.
