  How do you understand this scripture after leaving JWs?

  It means the same thing it did in JW-Land. It is admonition of the cult leader to place the values of the cult above any wishes you may individually have. It is the making of an "us" and "them" construction which reinforces the brotherhood of the cult and alienates cult members from non-cult members. All it says is "we are special because we agree to not be like 'them' (the non-cult outside world)". If anyone else can find another place I can use the word "cult" in the above text, please let me know and I'll come back and edit. Thanks. Bring_the_Light

  Should the US Comander and Chief be Under the Same Law as the Citizens?

  a new poster inspired me to take a look at the memorial talk and the way that the witnesses honor (dishonor) jesus' memory.

  i had mentioned that the form is, from this christian's point of view, an abomination.

  the participant is encouraged to look and not partake.

  Did Jehovah's Witnesses/Bible Students always have this view? The doctrinal change came in 1935, about the same time when Watchower membership was about to exceed 144,000. J. F. Rutherford introduced the concept of the "two hopes" and the "other sheep" at a convention in Washington, DC on May 31, 1935. Up until that time, all Witnesses/Bible Students partook at the memorial.

  This has brought up a question I've had for a long time.... What is the "non-JW" interpretation of the number 144,000? Does it have any significance in any other Christian doctrine, or is it just some factoid that was thrown out indicating how large the heavenly "government" would be?

  Really, Are Jehovah's Witnesses THAT Different From The Other Religions?

  the more i read on this site, the more i see that all religions think their version of what is right and wrong is what matters.

  some punish you now for disobedience to the church's rules and others supposedly give you your reward in the hereafter.. some live their lives with more strictness.

  others are more liberal.. look at the jewish faith.

  It is a very interesting thing to know today - in the world of so much confusion about which religion out of thousands is right- that using the numbers found in the Bible we can establish the time line showing us which religion God Yahweh approves of.

  Would anyone with a Bound Volume CD-ROM please run a search on how a Witless ought to view NUMEROLOGY, and give OBVES some quotes and citations.

  (sorry to pass the buck, one of the weaknesses of the intuitively brilliant is we aren't very good at reasearch)
