I found this place after I went looking for old friends after being gone about ten years. I found a whole buncha crazy and it lit a fire to stir the coals a bit where before I just sort of wandered away. As soon as I wasn't required to be a JW, I just plain never had the inclination. Now I'm going back and doing it right, not just knowing the WTS ain't god, be learning the actual proof of the matter, assessing the damage, and being angry about it. It feels good to be angry. its helping me get over the last 5% of icky feelings I carry from my experience.

while i readily admit there were some "good," and "kind" jws in the congregation i grew up in.
and maybe it was the location -- my dad was asked to move there -- but for the most part it was an intellectual sahara.. yet i've noticed that on this forum there are some incredibly "smart" people.

I'm in awe. I can understand how people can be brainwashed, ever thinking 32 pages means something is incredible Cognitive Dissonance. Perhaps you should write the society to ask what the significance of 32 pages is. I'll play. 9. Because "No other organization is doing this". Claiming that right now is the time of the end based on discredited numerology starting from a provably incorrect date? Tennasee- Witness man preaching to Goth Satanist gets family killed!!
by Witness 007 inwatching the crime channell yesterday i saw a picture of a family that was murdered by teenage gothic satanists, i said to my self "they look like witnesses"...and they were!
one of the girls charged with murder said: "the man aproached me at the rest stop and asked me if i believed in god, he said he was a jehovah witness...." the four youth's are serving life in prison for shooting this man his wife and 2 kids.
the baby boy was shot in the eye but survived....they ran over the parents as they drove off in their van.

Eh, keeping things on perspective, if it weren't for the great secular society we have, the Goth Satanist would have gotten much the same treatment from the Christian, and everyone would think its good. Let's just be happy that we live in a society where this is wrong.

I recently found out my dad took heat for letting me go to college. Probably took heat for the fact I never progressed in the truth (never baptised). He was an (MS). I love my dad. He was a real believer, but was also a real believer in education and for a mans right to make his own choices. He's out now too. So you could say I was correctly accused of not believing the Grand Lie, my dad was falsely accused of it being his fault. His superb genes for intellect played a role, but I'm the one that used those genes to full effect. :D

"Armageddon really, really close" made me suddenly remember an older Dub who commented AT A MEETING with the Mic, that Armageddon was SUPPOSED to happen in 1975, so it must be SUPER-Close now (maybe 1990 or so) they were dead serious, not an apostacomment at all . This was the first glimpse of past dim Light. A bunch of people got uncomfortable at the comment, I just now remembered this and understand why for the first time. Ha!

JWs at the door
by HB inyesterday, my 23 year old son mark was the only one in our house and was just drying off after a shower when the front doorbell rang.
he was expecting a friend to arrive, so he pulled on a pair of underpants and went to open the door and let his friend in, only to find two sweet-looking, demurely dressed middle aged jw ladies on the doorstep holding magazines.
mark was not particularly embarrassed, but the ladies were visibly taken aback by his appearance and were speechless for a couple of seconds.

wow! Thanks for your interest in this! First off, they will for sure come back eventually. Dubs have your community better mapped and organized than your city government. They visit "every" home in their "territory" every couple of years. Basically they go through everybody, when they get to the end they start over again. I remember the more experienced ones knew entire neighborhoods of people basically by name, what their religion was, and how they responded "last time". If you ACTUALLY want them to come back, call or write a letter declaring so to the local Kingdom Hall. You'll have half a dozen pioneers humping your leg in a matter of days. If you are so willing, ask for a regular Bible study, and I'm sure we'd be happy to feed you ammunition if you're willing to fire the gun. :) Bring_the_Light

The HUGE over-turn is something I learned about only recently. The 3% apparent growth is actually reaping Lots of souks and shitting out " lots -3%". I've heard it works out to they "retain" about 34% of (the stupidest and most impressionable) members. Look to your left and right.
