Ooh, yeah, I want to vacation in that little nub on the top of the mostly horizontally-shaped state. I've always wondered what it was like in that nub. Right.

DanielP:
The JWs have never disallowed this is all I'm saying. YOU define it as getting involved in politics, but the WTS has NEVER taken that step.
A local JW couple took the LEAD with a local group in my hometown that opposed a landfill being developed on the road they lived on. He was an engineer and was instrumental in getting the landfill voted down by local zoning. They were filmed speaking at local meetings several times, and it was broadcast on local tv.
This is NOT against any WTS policy or council.
S4Then why aren't there any JW PTA moms? Agreed that the occasional trip to the city council to solve some land problem might not be an issue. "Getting involved" in any capacity would raise hell.

An apostate experiment - what would happen?
by slimboyfat inwhat would happen if a copy of crisis of conscience and a short well-written covering letter were sent to every single jehovah's witness worldwide?
i realise this is not practical and probably dubious morally, but that is not the point of my question.
call it a thought experiment if you will.

What got me to read Crisis of Conscience was Timothy Campbell's Beyond Jehovah's Witnesses website. It presents the information in a non-threatening manner. In-your-face apostates always scared me when I was a Witness. If you could find a way to get more Witnesses to read the BJW website, then more would decide to read CoC on their own.
DaveYeah, I remember seeing apostates at conventions with signs that had the "all seeing eye" pyramid and Russel on them. I figured "Apostate" was another spin of extra-crazy religion from JW's that had some crazy occult ideas. Even when I thought JW's were bunk, I thought these "apostate" people were worse. I seriously think the best way to assault the religion would be for we non-believers to stay in. Its the cleansing action of disfellowshipping and disassociation that causes nobody to notice the white rabbits running down the rabbit hole. If Mr. Rabbit wasn't in such a rush, more people would probably poke their nose in that hole he keeps coming in and out of.

Single Ministerial Servants and Elders...
by B_Deserter ini'm sure this has been touched on before, but i just thought about it tonight.
i was thinking about the appointment of ministerial servants (deacons) and elders (bishops) in the kingdom hall.
the watchtower society runs down the list of requirements in acts, that they must be good examples, pure, etc.

(Acts 20:27-28) . . .. 28 Pay attention to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the holy spirit has appointed YOU overseers, to shepherd the congregation of God, which he purchased with the blood of his own [Son].. . . I remember having a conversation with our CO. He mentioned some elders are appointed without the holy spirit's directions. When a BOE overlooks flaws and recommends an elder, his appointment may go thru the human channels, but the appointment is never 'sealed' in heaven. In due time, Jehovah makes the adjustment. However, the damage to the congregation can be high. A man can serve for a while w/o spirit, but eventually he will stumble. He mentioned Saul as an example.
Soo..... People believe this shit. Huh.
This is how churches get built. When I was in, everyone seemed to emphasize that JW's are "just devout bible students" this is why we didn't need clergy etc. To find that there's an aweful lot of Churchish claims going around is kinda creepy. I thought these people were just morons, now I see they are crazy morons and thats the most dangerous kind.

the new mark of the devil
by james220 ini heard last night, when i was watching tv, that some archaeologists in egypt discovered a ancient papyrus, with one on the original copies of revelation written on it, and i think most people have heard of the mark of the wild beast which revelation talks about, and the bible says it is 666, and this is the number which jehovahs witnesses and every other church around the earth has teached for thousands of years, but then the archaeologists translated the papyrus, they found that it said the mark of the wild beast it 616, and not 666.you might think it is not that big of a deal but if you think that jehovahs witnesses say that they are the one true religion and that jehovah talks to the faithful and discrete salve, so you would think that they would have said that it was 616, but it has not come out from them, also they mention a lot of the names in the bible which people say did not exist, and then when archaeologists find items with them on the make a big fuss about it, but i dont think this is something they will make a fuss about, think they will let it pass other them and not mention it.

Mary's Ovum - LOL
by DoomVoyager ini just got back from a vacation, and i had to share this one with all of those who aren't getting the kool-aid washtowels any more.. .
scriptural questions answered:.
1:35 - did mary's egg cell, or ovum, have any part in her pregnancy?

Bring_the_Light
In the church's doctrine, Jesus' father was the Holy Spirit who descended upon the immaculately conceived Mary in the form of a dove.
Ugh! So did it bang her with a little dove cock, or did the whole dove jump right in? Catholics are sick.
