Hey Blondie,
So when I went to the Wacktower Study this morning all the "sisters" were in "giggle mode" during the discussion. "Brothers" would make all kinds of stupid comments like, " My wife always pokes me in the ribs to remind me when to listen to her." Giggle giggle giggle. Or the ever famous, " I would never be able to pick out the right tie to wear if it wasn't for my wife." Giggle. giggle giggle. If you ever want to travel back in time to the 1950's please come to this Kingdom Hall.

It was those times that wore on me the hardest when I was growing up. The open display of group-stupidity.

I listened carefully in the 80s to the counsel to remain single and pursue spiritual goals because the end was so close. In fact, the generation of 1914 was in their last years, so the preaching and separating of the sheep and goats was much more urgent than education, career, marriage, family, financial planning, etc.
Wrong, wrong, and wrong. So now, here I am at JWD. From what I've seen in the congregation, I'm better off single... than unhappily married to a JW.
I "got cheated on", although that's a pretty strong word what a naive innocent christian girl does with boys, leading me to lose a girl I was totally in love with. I didn't believe a god-damned word of "the truth" but I was basically planning on "faking" whatever was necessary to stay with her. Today, I am sooo glad that my first love was a Christo-skank. It left me free and clear to get the hell out of dodge. Looking at the current state of affairs with friends who failed to make their dash for the wall, I am truly blessed by Jehovah to have been fucked by the Witless that I loved.

Current or exJW parents: What did your congregation do for kids?
by truthseeker ini'd like to know what your congregation did (or did not do) for children of various ages.. were there any playdates for your kids?
did you have children's parties?.
in my old hall, the elders and moms would rent a hall out and organise parties for the kids but as we all grew older we were pretty much left to make our own entertainment.. a friends congregation used to have "talent night" but this has gone the way of the dodo.. were you in a hall with very few children?

But In the eighties the elders in our hall put the kabosh on one event after another.
I NEVER understood this. Hanging out with worldlings was VERBOTEN (German, means forbidden) and hanging out with witnesses was viewed with EXTREME suspicion, suppression, monitoring and limiting.
There was not a single event where someone didn't have an issue. I remember a couple people actually consider skipping or severly limiting their wedding reception because they "didn't want any drama" which there inevitably would, if they let witnesses in.
If I was a cult leader, I'd have 3 meeting a week, parties the other 4. THAT's how you keep the sheeple happy. This "depress them until they obey" strategy backfires when you're competing against a world chock full of fun vices.

"For he so loved the world, he gave his everlasting life to be a part of it."
I need something sacriligious on my headstone, this is my pick for now.

How long was Jesus' (err. Jesuses, Jesusis, Jesus's) hair?
Plant a New World Translation Bible on your kid and tell him to ask for a hair length standard from the scriptures. I don't know which verse, but I'm pretty sure the standard was stated in "cubits".

Surprise,surprise !
by frisbee inhi guys.
am a relative newbee and still a member of the borg, two weeks ago had 2 elders visit ostensibly to shepherd/correct me for sharing some personal study viewpoints which they heard had upset a bro and sis who had not bothered to contact me in the spirit of matt 18 although according to one of the elders this is one of the most abused scriptures in the bible , the r&f spillling the beans on each other to the boe and the elders listening to any hearsay and then confronting brothers, any experiences ?
also i had been seen visiting my dfd daughter and son in law ( also posters here ) this resulted in my having some basic priveledges removed, assembly attendant, pioneer, regional bc helper.. i wrote a letter of concern and copied to our co who took the time to visit me and in the presence of the elders agreed that their decision was technically wrong and not a demonstration of kindness , also that my relationship with my family was not one for a general judgement but was between my conscience and jehovah, the time i might spend with them was my affair and only if stumbling was to occur within the cong might it be flagged up for further counsel.

You should check how liberal CO really is and say that the Apostate community on the internet was impressed with his loving kind regards in that decision.

This is my best motherly advice.
Suck it up and go.This means alot to your brother. Smile at everyone, even if they say something less than nice. Be the gracious, loving daughter. You be the one to treat them kindly and be the better person. If they start on Bible study, meetings, etc., just thank them for their concern.
Motherly and masculine genious advice agree on this one. Never bend, never hide, never feel shame. Shame, hiding and bending to these social distortions is their rules not ours (yours). Carry the flag of rationality proud.

This is how JW's view the change in the book study
by TooBad TooSad ina very good friend of mine is convinced that the change in the book study arrangement.
is a sign that the end is so near and the jehovah made the change to emphasize the.
importance of the meetings.

The European Union is a sign that the end is near.
The high price of gasoline in the United States and the weak dollar is a sign that the end is near.
Tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, etc. are a sign that the end is near.
Meeting attendence up, meeting attendence down, more meetings, less meetings- a sign that the end is near.
New light- a sign that the end is near.
A black man and a woman running for president of the U.S.A.- a sign that the end is near.
United States at war in the region of the promised land, twice now- a sign that the end is near.
I could do this all day.
The best sign of the end of THEM ALL, is that Satan will step up his efforts to lead sheeple away from the flock'.
Quick somebody give me a bible reference for that, I think I'll use that next time a JW asks me why I'm at a meeting or assembly. "Are you thinking about coming back to the truth?"
No actually *whip out bible, flip to page* As you can see here *read verse* a sign of the times is that Satan will step up his efforts to lead sheeple astray...... I'm here by biblical prophesy.

Which brings me to: why are the dates written month-day-year? Doesn't it make more sense to do day-month-year to keep it in a logical sequence? Hmmm
We write it like we say it, not like a computer may reason. "September eleventh two thousand-one" 9/11/2001
Okay now I'm on a roll.. what's the deal with the English language being tweaked? Centre, favourite, organisation, neighbour. And what's more of a slap in the face is when Microsoft Word wants to put zeds in all my words, and I have to tell it "No, actually I'm REALLY writing English, thanks anyway." haha
You may have noticed we "tweaked" a whole fucking continent out of you empire buddy. Messing with the language we stole in the process is really the least of your problems.
Which brings me to zed. The 26th letter of the alphabet. Yep. Sorry folks, it's zed not zee. I think zee started up when Sesame Street needed their song to rhyme.. :-P heh heh
Sesame Street is the most powerful force on earth, I would not question it. Most important things I learned about life, I learned from Sesame Street (not JayDubs)
Oh dear I'm having way too much fun with this. Hey and why do you guys call your main meal an "entree"? The word literally means "entrance" so we use it to describe the lighter, starter meal before the main. Hey so what do you call your entrees??
I don't call anything entree. I sounds French and I oppose all things French on moral grounds.
But seriously, secretly I'm a big time admirer of America. In fact, I plan on spending a lot of time there in the future. :-)
Most people who aren't retarded share your sentiment. God Bless(ed) America (TM)
