if in fact, the recent donation of blood therapy equipment(refrenced in the link above) is a new chapter in watchtower community service i will be the first to applaud them.
however, i will reserve a negative attitude about accepting this action as a genuine act of altruism on the part fo the society.. how many of us, during our jw days participated in something as simple as a "walk-a-thon"?
Perry,
I never took you serious for a moment.I thought your post was funny.
i decided to start this thread, because so many time we go at each other because of difference of opinion.
( myself included ) but yet for me i love this place.
i love the different opionions, they make me think, i love the freedom of expression, the friendships, and the expriences that make this a special healing place.
I love this board because it's where I get my therapeutic treatments for getting over being a jw.After all,how many psychiatrists are ex-jws?
.
remember how embarrassing it was to show up at someone's door on a holiday?when i was a teenager i went out with a very zealous pioneer sister on christmas day.we worked an upscale neighborhood of town and of course all the servants were off so they would answer the door themselves.i rang one doorbell and a lady came to the door and i could see her family inside sitting in chairs in a circle opening gifts.they all looked at me to see who in the world was calling on christmas,i suppose.i gave my presentation with a red face and she just looked at me and said"don't you know today is christmas?
"how embarrassing is that?so glad i don't have to do that anymore.

I was told that community service was like putting a band-aid on a heart attack. They are so far away from something which was a big part of Jesus' ministry. He knew people needed help right then and he helped them. This is one area where witnesses are sorely lacking.
when you look back, were you considered by others a "devout" jw?
( michael jackson and family as well as the williams sisters have been charecterized as being "devout").
did you consider yourself sincere and devoted?
Yes,I was a devout witness(service twice a week,rarely missed a meeting)although I never sang or played tennis.Probably would have been reprimanded if I had.
silentlambs has provided the folowing numbers:.
increase of average publishers:
usa 3% (last year 1%)
Isn't it interesting how the number of memorial partakers keeps increasing also?At this rate they'll never all die off !
.
the kids are very keen on having a christmas tree and some decorations.. is there any date these are supposed to go up or are we going to look really silly having it up mid november ?
I'm going to put up mine as soon as I take my last bite of pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.
