by minimus inafter reading many posts on this site, it seems we all share the same types of fears.while witnesses, some were petrified to give a talk in the theocratic ministry school.
others were sick to their stomach to go out in door to door work.
if the elders said that they wanted to talk to you after the meeting, fear would set in throughout the whole night.

Hamburger - fluff time
by larc ini have been very busy translating the dead sea scrolls and finding out how to explain to everyone what is the meaning of life, so i feel a need to take a break from my ponderous works to ask all of you a pregnant question, to wit, what is your favorite dish that is mainly comprised of hamburger, or contains hamburger as a major ingredient?
i do request that you only provide one, and only one selection.
(those who disobey this rule will be disfellowshipped and will not get a christmas present from me this year, even if i promised you one.

We barbecue burgers outside on the grill in the summer.A lot of people tell me they have never eaten barbecued hamburgers but they are good and don't really need any condiments either.

What does your jewellery say about you?
by Beck_Melbourne inthe other day we went to a christening for one of andy's grand nephew's.
andy's neice is half aussie half italian and her husband is full italian...so what a grandiose affair it was...i loved every minute of it.
the first thing i noticed was all the gold...every male wore a gold necklace, usually italian gold and not aussie gold - apparently.

2 Assemblies??
by El Kabong inthere were some in my old congregation that would boast to anybody who would listen that they go to 2 district/circuit assemblies.
the reason for this is because they would so-called work at the assembly they were assigned to, so they couldn't get the full benefit from the program.
so, they supposedly attended another assembly so they can sit and <cough> enjoy the program.

There was an elder and elderette in my old congregation who would travel all the way from Texas to Tennessee because the one in Tennessee was two weeks before ours.They always wanted to get the jump on any new information or new releases.

Ohhh - what a laugh!
by Mr Magoo init's been quite a while since the last time i was in here.. i don't know if any of you rememeber my story, but i'm a happy ung male atheist married to a lovely jw.... last week i attended the study group with my wife - the i-don't-know-what-he's-called-but-he's-visiting-the-study-groups-from-time-to-time was going to be there and there would therefore be coffee, cake and cookies after the meeting.
as i get along quite well with my wife's jw "friends" (some of them being my family in law) i attended the meeting just to take part in the social activities afterwards.. during the i-don't-know-what...'s speak at the end of the meeting he explained how telephone preaching could be used and blahblahblah... in the end he then said "so are any of you interested in trying that?
" - no reaction from anyone - not a nod, not a smile - nothing.

How Did You Handle Spiritual Snobs?
by minimus inmy wife was speaking negatively about a sister, an elder's wife, because since i resigned as an elder, she does not give her the time of day.
she said to me that sister-------- is a "spiritual snob.
" i never heard this expression before.

The last congregation I was associated with was a very reserved bunch.If you weren't in the clique they didn't even acknowledge you.I was never invited to any of their get-togethers the whole year I went there.I think the main reason was that I was married to an unbeliever and they might have been afraid I would bring him with me.Anyhow,the way I handled it was just to drop out of the whole business.I don't think being snobbish is christian so they couldn't be the true religion.The congregation I am speaking of is Mesquite Central in Mesquite,Texas.Even the sister who studied with me wouldn't let me in on any get-togethers.I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to live in a world with people like that even if they were the true ones.Very,very,hurtful to always be left out.
