Huh? Sorry but the 'only' ones that can reduce demand are individuals and businesses. The 'only' ones that can increase supply are oil companies. If you don't like the price of something, and don't feel it is worth it, don't buy it. I would love to see gasoline in the US hit $5 a gallon. Even $6 a gallon would be fine with me. If you don't like it, take the bus, train, subway, or carpool.

the wts depends on money coming in from it's members and they aren't picky on where the money comes from.. the wts does not pay taxes because it is a religion - therefore, one assumes that no taxes are paid on the kingdom halls.

the wts does not provide any food banks or soup kitchens to assist the poor in the community - the money it collects is forwarded directly to the top.

many cities and counties are struggling to balance the books as more people require government assistance to live, wether it be from food stamps, transportation or general welfare.

I think so much of this type of thinking is hold over from being a JW. Why is anyone so concerned with what everyone else is doing or getting? It reeks of sour grapes. So many people get up in arms the moment they think that someone else is geting a bigger handout, more tax breaks, or any advantage. I guess it's easier being bitter and judgmental over what everyone else is doing rather than just keeping to our own business and responsibility. Odd.

I will grant you that the jeans in the opening post were too tight. But I'm so happy that stupid, shapeless, baggy look has died. I work hard at keeping my body in shape and toned and don't want to hide it in big oversized jeans. I love the low rider cut of jeans. In high school it was so annoying having jeans that had a crotch rise hanging half way to your knees. It's nice that jeans have finally come back to flattering thinner frames.

Why would I give a shit what you, or another homophobe thinks? Pretty obvious you missed the point I made earlier. You've not escaped from the JW mindset and rampant judgmentalism have you? Go ahead judge your world based on every 3 second first impression you have. It's served you well so far hasn't it? Perhaps if you had learned not to come to snap decisions on a 3 second opinion you wouldn't have been a JW for so long. If you seek only to judge and reinforce everything you think you know based on a 3 second first impression, knock yourself out.

I should listen to you because you "roar"? I don't know if you care if you're respected or not; but my experience tells me that you won't be as long as your represent yourself as a sexual object. But what do I know?

I guess your own personal history repeats itself doesn't it? Your judgmental attitude is so pervasive it's astonishing. What I posted about the history of marriage is quite true. But you shouldn't take my word for it, you should go research it for yourself. Stop being a patsy, and believing whatever you are told, even if you do find the outside veneer or packaging to your liking. Also, respect needs to be earned. Do you really think I care what complete strangers think? Or homophobes? Or judgmental, small minded people looking for easy answers? I got out of the JWs and that mindset of always being concerned with what strangers think of me based on if I had an unwashed car in service, or if a 'worldly' neighbor saw me talk to a girl alone, or if I was wearing modest clothing. Start living your life based on what is important to you, not what some random stranger down the street may or may not think.

Carlos: You probably "get laid" more often than I do. That's important.

Carlos: I'm not sure where you get your information. Maybe it's wishful thinking; but the majority determines the "rights" of the minority. Always has. The majority does what IT feels is the right thing to do - and individual "rights" follow.

Wrong. It's called the Constitution. When laws that have passed either via legislative process or voter mandate they get over-ridden by the Supreme Court. Trying to amend the Constitution doesn't take just a majority, but rather an exhaustive, lengthy, full vetting that needs overwhelming support to enact.

Carlos: Admittedly, the vocal homosexual minority is gaining some political ground on a sinking ship that they (along with others) helped poke holes in; but in the long-run, what's the difference? All you can do now is try and enjoy the ride.

LMAO! What will bring America down as a sinking ship first? Gay marriage by those darned homos? Or the war in Iraq that was started and lost via the bible lovin super Christian Bush, along with all of his fundy supporters that hate gays, but love killing brown people in far off place?

Just when I don't think you can come up with any more ridiculous garbage you spout that. Hitler killed gay people because of gay rights? He then killed Jews because the Jews wanted rights too then. And Jehovah's Witnesses (see: purple triangle). You just grouped yourself in with the gay people. You admit that it is ok if you were killed, since you were a Jehovah's Witness. After all the JWs pushed for their rights to be enforced. I guess that's the backlash you are talking about then.

The same tired tripe has been spewed before. Just as when intermixed racial marriages were not allowed and against the laws, 'black people' or 'Asian people' had the same rights as white people. They could marry according to their race, therefore why did they expect 'special rights'. It's such a ridiculous argument, that anyone with a single shred of intellectual integrity would be embarrassed for belching up such crap.

Claiming that marriage is the bedrock of civilization and of 'traditional values' is just as ridiculous. Marriage for far longer than it's current definition was used as a way to increase wealth and power. Women were property. Marriage wasn't for love, nor sacredness, nor any other moral reason. It was a union of convenience. Men and women had their sexual partners on the side. Oh egad! What would the bible (puke) say about such adultery?

As studies have shown in the age ranges of 16 to 25, they overwhelmingly support gay marriage and people. Even in the 25 to 39 demographic it is strongly pro-gay rights. Only as you get into the 50+ age range does it turn against gay people. Soon enough all those people, and those who seek to deny equal rights will be dead, and the never ending march to equality for not only gay people, but other minorities as well will keep moving forward.

In 2007 according to the US Census Bureau our country was approaching 36% of non-white people. By 2050 or sooner non-whites will make up 50%+ of the US population. It's simply a numbers game the status quo cannot keep up any longer. Like it or not, the rights of ALL people will continue to strengthen whether you like it or not.

Was everyone really vegeterian pre-flood?

ok it's late and im bored and this might ramble a bit but i got to thinking, the wbts always proposes that everyone, b/f god gave noah permission to eat meat, was vegeterian.

witnesses always talk about how in the new system we will all go back to being vegeterian since i think in isaiah it says the the lion or wolf will graze and eat grass like the lamb or something and it was never gods plan for us to eat meat.. this doesn't sound right to me.

why would god make animals begin to eat each other if it was not according to his plan?

I personally believe eating animal flesh unless absolutely necessary is morally wrong. There are just so many choices for food these days that there really is no nutritional need, nor moral excuse for killing a life in order to eat. If I was stranded on an island somewhere and my only choice to survive would be to kill another living being, then I would do so. As it is now, I feel there is no excuse for killing a living, warm blooded, animal for food.
