  Thank you Farkel! I have learned a lot about Rutherford and Russell but this is the most I've learned about Franz and Knorr. The point that really stands out to me most though is why the WTBTS is so opposed to beards, which are a God-given natural gift. I've never heard this explanation before but it makes so much sense- Rutherford wanted to replace Russell's followers (who like Pastor C.T. wore beards) with his own (babyfaces)! Is this when "clean-shaven Jesus" began making his appearance in WT publications?

  for the last 5 and 1/2 weeks i have been at the gym mostly twice a day except saturdays - i only have one training session.

  each of my sessions is at least an hour long but can go for two hours.

  i do various cardio in the evenings and do strength training in the morning.

  I have exercised with free weights for years, generally every other day. Lately I've added a stationary bike to the mix. I recommend exercise to anyone who feels depressed. Get those endorphins flowing!

  no matter how much you want to avoid it...crying is necessary sometimes.

  for me, i need help with it....too many distractions in my life.

  i almost have to plan crying....so for me music aides in releasing emotion, helps me just be me for an interval of time.

  The movie that always makes me cry is "Saving Private Ryan" when the old man is at the tombstone. An album that I always listened to when I was going through tough times was the Red Hot Chili Peppers "One Hot Minute" album. A lot of deep dark stuff on that album but very cathartic too.

  but if a man commits murder and goes to jail for it, would it be reasonable to punish his innocent children for the same crime?

  Maybe this has been discussed before. But if a man commits murder and goes to jail for it, would it be reasonable to punish his innocent children for the same crime? And his grandchildren as well? Should they all serve jail terms for murder even though they didn't commit the crime? So too- why should all of Adam and Eve's offspring suffer for their mistake? And if you mention a dented cake pan I'll smack you! :)

  Oh yeah, the WT conductor said in next week's lesson (about having kids) there is a thought that he has heard before but never seen in print. So I read the article- and there's absolutely nothing that I haven't seen before. Talk about wishful thinking in Dub Land. "Must find evidence that end is so close... it's been 130 years now..."

  Went out of town this weekend. Wife wanted to attend a meeting while we were there so *sigh* we did. Interestingly enough this congregation had a display of old literature behind glass. I was able to explain to my Dub wife about the Egyptian symbols on the cover of one of Russell's books. This led to my explaining how he calculated the end in 1874 and 1878 using measurements of the Great Pyramid of Gizeh. I also mentioned the Freemason cross and crown symbol that used to be on the literature- and lo and behold- I found one and showed it to her. All in all a perfect opportunity to anti-witness. I hope these kinds of things eventually sink in with her. Anyway when I got back home I checked my e-mail. I have been talking to a DF'd guy whose brother has faded. He doesn't believe the WT is a cult though! I gave him a few reasons why I disagree, hopefully that will sink in as well. What an uphill battle this all is- but hopefully more people will keep seeing the truth about "the Truth"!

  Don't want to hurt your parents/famly's feelings huh?

  i've read where many of you have posted that you "don't want to hurt family members feelings" and that's the reason you don't come clean about how you feel as far as the jw's go.

  i was wondering if it ever dawned on you who think like this how you still are being abused mentally by both this religion and your family by worrying about their feelings while they have total disregard for your thoughts and/or feelings?

  i've never told a family member how they must think for me to talk to them; never hounded a family member to come to a meeting they have clearly shown they don't want to attend.

  I see you're "emperor" class Dawg. That means you've been at this a while. Speaking for myself it's only been in the past few months that the truth about "the truth" has been revealed for me. I'm still working all this out and it has deep implications for sorting out my past, present, and future. It extends to complicated relations with relatives and friends. I didn't get here overnight and I won't work it all out overnight. Time takes time. Everyone's situation is different and we're all in different places in our lives. When the time is right we will all make our decisions. In the meantime don't rush people into having your viewpoint because you've obviously had more time to get to this place in your life.
