I would have been raised Lutheran, my family is Norwegian and think that Lutherans are the end all be all of religion. I, however, still would have left and probably become buddhist but studied all religions as well.

If You Weren't A Witness, What Would You Be Today?
by minimus inmany of us are or were witnesses because we were born into the religion.
others became witnesses because they really thought it was the truth.
so many wish that they never had a jehovah's witness come to their door or their parents' door.

Carlin is God! I love his standup and his views on both god and religion. In his own outragous way he just tells the truth.

Reparations for slavery: Just or unjust?
by MYOHNSEPH inthere's such a broad range of perception on this board, i'm curious to know what you folks think of this issue.
are contemporary decendents of black slaves in the united states justified in asking for monetary reparation for their ancestors' bondage?
if you answer is in the affirmative, some related questions are:.

I'm with Cedric the Entertainer on this one, "The only thing reperations will do is make Cadillac the number one car dealer in the country." Hey, c'mon you can't be serious all the time.

I got an e-mail for a long-lost dub friend
by Mackin inthere is this woman i used to correspond with back in my dub days but lost contact with several years ago.
anyway just the other day she sent me an e-mail out of the blue.. she wanted to know if i was "in" or "out" as she was planning a trip to australia and if i was still "in" possibly we could meet (obviously i would have to travel to oz).
she had heard i wasn't going to the meetings any more.. i replied that i was definitely not "in" any longer but that i wasn't da'd or df'd and if she wanted to read my story i provided her a link to my story on this site.

The CD is called Hed Kandi: Winter Chill . It is a double cd set of various artists. Originally it was import only from England (way to go Brits) but has been reproduced by an American manufacturer. I bought it and have listened to it everyday since. Don't you love going into coffee shops these days and hearing music you would have never given a chance to and really liking it?

If you're into bar hopping go to Pioneer Square. There are a ton of bars in a confined area, most with live music of all kinds. The space needle is a nice touristy thing to visit. You can walk around China Town and eat some great food. The market is a good place to go as well (Pike Place Market) as well as the waterfront area.

JWs compared to Raelians- ABC News
by Gerard in"many religious scholars, though, see a broader definition of religion and the raelians fit it, they say, just as scientologists, jehovah's witnesses and mormons do.

Being genetic experiments could explain alot when it comes to our evolution. Sitchin has very good and well thought out theories on this subject. Unfortunately he's a nut case like the rest of them. Let's see if these people commit suicide with another passing comet. As for the "cult" word, I think people forget that Christianity was nothing more than a cult back at its beginings.
edited to add: Scientology is just about the same as this "new religion". Higher level scientology believes that your afterlife is spent on a distant planet. The have all kinds of strange rituals to go with that as well.
