I love how the Bible is so ambiguous about such BS. On one hand it talks about wars, crime and diseases all of which have happened since the begining man. Then it says when we cry peace and security instant destruction will be upon us. Sounds to me like Jehovah is BiPolar.

I was actually THINKING...
by joannadandy inok--very unlike me to be reflective or meditate...especially on things of a biblical nature, but today i was home sick and left with thoughts and a lot of cold medicine, so here i am with my bible based thought of the day...what do you people make of this: .
"and the lord god said unto the serpent because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life" .
does that mean snakes had legs at some point?

If you go back far enough you get into our evolutionary line. Here I was going to think of something witty and Vivamus wrapped it up for me.
I don't believe in fairy tales. Read the bible as a book written by men in a dark age of ignorance and supersticion, and it all makes sence. Enjoy.

Although I would put in there, poorly written. If there are people who honestly believe, with a rational mind, that the story of Adam and Eve is literal, or even original for that matter, I can see how televangilists make so much money. Any other martial artist online
by kenpodragon ini went from the jw's and got heavy into martial arts.
i have a black belt in kenpo karate, tkd, and kenjitsu and also hold ranks in jujitsu and other lower ranks in other systems.
i learned ages ago it is nothing evil like witnesses said it was, and have actually trained a few ex-jw's in my time.

I'm too out of shape for that stuff now. :( I could have been a black belt in TKD but I avoided it like the plauge for some reason. I strung my high red belt out for 2 years before I finally quit. Martial Arts is what got me into so many Elders meetings before I got DF'd. Now, I somewhat practice Tai Chi when I get off my butt and actually do it. As far as achievements, one of my most satisfying was getting first place in forms at the 1994 U.S. TKD championships. I would have had first place in light contact fighting but got DQ'd for being too rough. If not for such a demanding school schedule I would love to take Shorin-Ryu Karate at the local school.
TKD was perfect for me though just because of my body structure. I could kick to the head faster than I could punch to the head. Of course my hand technique sucks so that's not saying too much but allot of people thought I was pretty fast. Now I can barely fight for air.

the book of mormon is a volume of holy scripture comparable to the bible.

The Mormons are the same as the Dubs. They have an answer for everything even if it lacks total logic. The biggest hurdle any morman has is the suspension of fact. There is no archeological evidence that what they say is even remotely true.

I would compare the Elders to the Police. They may have a video tape of you robbing some old lady but what they really want is for you to admit it. Nice job by the way. Although, I'm sure they just looked confused when you mention another deity besides Jehovah.

by crownboy infor me, it's actually the book of job, which happens to be one of my favourite books.
the way job steadfastly maintains his innocence, and questions god, as well as rebuffs the three comforters (who proffer arguments along the lines of mordern apologist, although in this book they are "bad guys" ) made him my hero of sorts throughout most of the book.
if most people today questioned god the way he did, they would probably be condemned for it.

Call it what you like Zach. but the Bible is a crutch. SS is correct when talking about putting people off. You seem happy with your faith but I hope you can describe your thoughts on God without the use of a book.
My motivation for using the Bible with unbelievers is only to make them think what if it were true there is a God and the Bible is his word? What am I missing out on by not believing?

God? If this were the case then your Bible is totally irrelevent.
The Bible? If someone already doesn't believe that the bible is the word of God then why would they believe it because you posted it?
Your post reminds me of the Baptists that came to my door "Just to talk to me about God". I agreed to talk to them but they had nothing to say after I said that I didn't believe the Bible to be the word of God. It leads me to believe that your faith is not in God but in a book about God.
