dogisgod, pretty much summed up my miserable childhood growing up as a kid in the early 1970's the prospect of leaving school and going to work etc because the Big A was just around the corner, what a lie and fraud, my folks died in 2005/15 respectively not even that old , bitter, angry and disappointed, and inflicted the worse sin of all shunning their only son and and grandchildren for all those years and for what purpose? staying loyal to The Borg, fucking idiots.

What was it like being a JW in the 1960's and 1970's
by UnshackleTheChains inthis is obviously a question for the older generation.
i'm really curious what it was like to be a witness in the 60's and 70's?.
was the society as strict as it is today?.

Governing Body-Part of Great Crowd
by TakeOffTheCrown init appears that the governing body members today are part of the great crowd and are not of the anointed.. to those with some knowledge of the subject, is it possible that the christian congregation would eventually be lead by those who are not anointed?

these lunatics will change whatever doctrine suits the current light, the reality is no one is of the little flock of the 144k, The Greater David, The Jenonabab Class etc etc , no one goes to heaven, no one gets resurrected, no one lives forever on a paradise earth,no one rules as priests in heaven, we all die and return to dust, why is that such a hard concept to grasp?

shame the ignorant judge/jury didn't do any research into the history of this stupid pointless adherence to this man made rule and that prior to 1950 Jw's were free to take blood transfusions any time they needed it, scandalous, more will keep committing suicide though and suffering unspeakable pain and slow deaths adhering to it, those bastards should rot in hell.

1919 a Date with Zero Prophetic Meaning
by JW_Rogue ini've noticed that lately the wt has been using the date 1919 more often.
in an almost matter of fact way, they will state that this is the year jesus finished refining his people and appointed the fds.
the only problem is there is little proof or even prophetic antitypes given for why this must have been the year.

yep it means absolutely nothing, zilch, as does 1914, 1935, 1945,1975, 1995 1999 the whole lot of them, shame the sheep pay no attention to the lunacy of their date setting or the scripture at Duet 18,20-22. To think I was summoned to punishment in the form of the judicial committee because I vocalised my disagreement with these dates and since then 1935 and 1999 ( the creators promises being realised before the end of the 20th century!) madness!

Today's W.T on GB not being inspired is having ZERO impact on most J.W's
by Isambard Crater inthe congregation i attend had it's watchtower study on thursday night because of l.d.c work this week-end, and another congregation i have some not very spiritual friends in had their watchtower study on wednesday.
from what i have delicately prised out of people, the congregations loved the watchtower study this week, saying it was so encouraging and all the usual stuff, with no-one seeming to realise the g.b.
said they're not inspired, so the spirit int he past has moved them to teach wrong things, and all the other ideas excellently summed up on reddit.. today's watchtower will wash over the heads of most j.w's like it never even happened, the all remaining as loyal as ever, and it makes me so, so sad..

its a social club to the vast majority of them isnt it? they pay so little attention to doctrine any changes/new light simply doesn't mean anything anymore, they seem to be getting worse in this area, the very last brief interaction I had with them at a cart recently was such a pointless waste of time due to their complete utter disinterest and disregard to anything of note I simply gave up and walked away.

What do You Think About Hybrid and Electric Cars?
by Village Idiot inbattery technology has been making leaps and bounds in affordability and energy output throughout the past decade.
while pure electric cars currently have limited range, the near future holds prospects for longer ranges.
hybrids, and recently plug in hybrids, have a mileage of up to 50 mpg* giving them a range of 500 miles from a ten gallon gas tank.

and what about the carbon footprint and environmental impact of entire cities switching over to electric and the access to the power points, how will council/sink estates with tower blocks deal with the huge project of installing charge points all over them? in London our electricity substations are powered by huge diesel generators as are most cities in the UK, it seems this Utopian dream is making environmental savings/benefits in one area but making catastrophic disadvantages in in the other

I'm a little concerned about the environmental impact on the planet when the untold millions of these electric/hybrid cars have to have these massive vast batteries disposed of when they malfunction or wear out, dont batteries contain lead, acid and mercury? I'm sure its been thought of but I have yet to see/read any thing about how they are disposed of or recycled

Local Elder Mentions this Site from the Platform
by James Jack ina local elder had the part this week on the "good news" brochure.
he said: "if the householder has any questions, direct them to jw.org, don't say, just look up jehovah's witnesses on the internet(an older sister said this at the door), if you do they will be directed to a site visited by apostates and weak witnesses!
" "this mistake, would cause the householder to never accept bible truth".. i thought to myself, wow, i'm sure some listening to this part, will get curious now(many in the hall are just being exposed to the internet, and practicing with their new tablets) and do, just what they were told not to do..

I remember that idiot some time back speaking at some ass'embly or another about how great the IT dept have been in protecting the R&F from being directed to "other" web pages if they was to google a particular URL and it only gives one result; their site, what a fool I wonder how he was able to get away with such ignorance!

Is Stephen Lett an alien imitation?
by LoveUniHateExams ini've been watching quite a bit of gb member stephen lett on youtube recently (no, i'm not thinking of going back to the jws).. i just find him compulsive viewing, like when people slow down to see a car crash.
i find his facial expressions and intonation spell-binding.. it reminds me a bit of john carpenter's the thing, a film where an alien life-form infects a host and imitates it, spreading throughout camps of remote workers in the antarctic.
if i were a bethelite living in close proximity to lett, i'd be thinking about giving him the blood test to see if he was normal, lol.. why does lett speak in public the way he does?

Richard Oliver; even if he does have a family member with hearing problems isnt Lett capable of tailoring his speaking style when he is addressing audiences from the platform? rather than continually sounding like the demented moron he portrays himself as? I would guess over the years Lett has given hundreds of talks so much of the old chestnut that being a jw makes one an excellent public speaker.
