it certainly is an exodus albeit slow but steady , the interweb has been so fundamental in helping people get equipped with the info to leave this group, I Ieft when the interweb was very much in its embryo stage I really wonder how many it has helped, this forum alone has thousands of members, add social media,blogs,Amazon and eBay normal web platforms etc it truly is remarkable and it will continue.

i'm really curious and we should refrain from the sensational, but is what we're seeing different than in years past?.
it sure seems like so so many are waking and leaving.

The memorial beauty pageant
by BlackWolf insince the memorial is coming up soon and its about time for me to go shopping for a new memorial ( aka easter) dress, i've realized what the memorial really is for us teenage girls, a beauty pageant!
the memorial is the day i spend painting my nails, curling my hair, and carefully applying makeup because my mother says i have to "represent jehovah" and look my best.
in reality its just to impress the newcomers and to compete with the other girls.

i always thought we were enlightened, progressive and not 'stuck in darkness' like all the other religions.. i was totally wrong.. as far as fundamentalists go, jw's are probably right up there amongst the front-runners.
no, they do not stone people to death or go on religion-fuelled violent rampages but that's not what i'm talking about.

good points, you are correct with putting the WTS up there as the frontrunners, they are responsible for a Jonestown tragedy and the WACO siege many many times over with the needless pointless unscriptural adherence to their medical prohibitions, a truly dangerous group. -

now lets say only about 1,000 jws show up.. do you think the show would go on?, or do you think it would be canceled because it would not generate enough money?.

same as Blondie I dont even see them even making enquiries to even book a purpose built 30k plus stadium at all these days in the UK/USA and Europe the costs must be eye watering, certificated stewarding is law and only one stadium is used in the UK these days. -

plenty of people respond, but it is all fairly anecdotal, or "gut feel".
some of it has been wishful thinking.. as of late 2015, watchtower's numbers suggest it is still growing marginally, but there are various anecdotes on this site of publishers typically being older, and younger ones disappearing.

TOH; I wonder how many Polish jw's have actually left their homeland to live and work in other countries of the EU? I don think its that many, in London there are 4 Polish speaking congs at a guess each cong would probably be about 75 publishers each maybe far less, and London has been one of the most popular destinations for Polish migrant workers to settle in recent years probably only topped by Germany, also the town of Peterborough has one of the biggest Polish communities in the UK yet does not have a Polish speaking cong in it at all, has that made much of a dent into the full service report for Poland? More surprising are the amount of Portuguese and Spanish congs in London which seems more than double since I was in. -

growth in the UK is definitely minimal, even worse in most parts of Europe, look at the figures for Germany and Poland, I do agree with the "mass exodus" theory not happing any time soon, but has any contemporary religious cult/sect ever seen a mass exodus? they are all shrinking, slowly dying and rotting away to be small irrelevant groups that the public will be less and less aware or bothered about, in my old circuit 3 traditional congs have been liquidated, one KH sold off, something you would have never thought would be possible 20 years ago, the cong of my ex jw wife has been merged. What will the WTS look like in the UK and Europe 10 years down the line? god knows, I see more of the same, perhaps circuit assembly halls sold off completely, there is no sign of a rekindling of growth that we saw in the late 1960's/1970's and 80's never in a million years. -

what exactly is the situation with their food especially in branches that are not close to any local amenities, can they cook their own? even if the allowance has increased food prices aren't particularly cheap, surely this eats further into their allowance, do local congregations contribute to their food costs? -
