he certainly is a very strange man, a frustrated actor? with the personality and talent of a worm! retarded? I think so indeed, I believe he has a mental age of a 9 year old and certainly would have had/has SEN .

Is Stephen Lett an alien imitation?
by LoveUniHateExams ini've been watching quite a bit of gb member stephen lett on youtube recently (no, i'm not thinking of going back to the jws).. i just find him compulsive viewing, like when people slow down to see a car crash.
i find his facial expressions and intonation spell-binding.. it reminds me a bit of john carpenter's the thing, a film where an alien life-form infects a host and imitates it, spreading throughout camps of remote workers in the antarctic.
if i were a bethelite living in close proximity to lett, i'd be thinking about giving him the blood test to see if he was normal, lol.. why does lett speak in public the way he does?

Business Slow at JW Literature Trolley
by Athanasius inyesterday i stopped at a local shopping center to pick up a few things.
i arrived at 9:45 am and two jw ladies had already set up their literature trolley and had opened for business.
but i didn't see anyone stopping by and taking advantage of their free literature.

I see them less and less in my town these days although they were there yesterday as I drove by, the next much bigger town where I go most weeks I never see the carts there at all, I pass an underground station every single morning and never see a cart there in the week but I saw them there last Sunday the least busiest day of the week! how insane is that!

My Old Kingdom Hall being merged with TWO other congregations!
by pale.emperor inthis can only be a good sign.. my old congregation in liverpool has had a lot of money in it's bank account for years.
for a long, long time (almost 8 years) they've been looking for land to build a new hall.
the one they're in now is literally falling to bits.

wow that must be sickening for the relatives of the old folks who bequeathed all that cash to the WTS, its clear this is the shape of things to come up and down the country , interesting to hear of other mergings

a "born in" 1966, had a "walkabout " phase in my teens, baptised in 1987 aged 20, married in 1990 , began doubts and fade in late 1992 , not too many years per se but the scars of a miserable childhood and marriage still remain decades later

National Insurance Contribution UK
by MrHappy ini just discovered that i have gaps in my national insurance contributions for the years i spent in bethel!
i remember signing a vow of poverty and a tax document declaring my volunteer missionary status but i don't remember them ever telling me that i would have to pay my own ni contributions out of my allowance.
i am wondering about all those who have been asked to leave bethel in the last year and who are behind on their contributions.

Hi MrHappy glad to see you on board here, you can check your pension/NI status on direct.gov I suggest you do so ASAP, and the fact weather you are entitled to a full UK pension depend on many factors, how long were you in Bethel? how long have you been working and paying NI? how old are you etc? the pensionable age has risen as well.

How many JW's believe to their last breath . .
by nicolaou ini can easily believe that thousands did all through the watchtowers glory years but especially after '95 the whole thing has been unravelling.
kidding yourself to maintain family relationships and social networks is *somewhat* understandable in life but on your deathbed?.
i think the demographic for jw's may actually get younger as time goes on.

the harsh realities of the scam will hit home to the most zealous dub as you know the end of your life is close and you mean nothing to them, sad but true, difficult to gauge but its reality

Best statement a householder made to get you to leave them alone.

a window opened on the floor above me.
a grizzled old man stuck his head out and said, " we're all heathens here!

LOL PeteZaHut , those fables always end up with the same ending dont they? the most ridiculous was the Yakuza crime boss who had his own daughter murdered because she would not enter into the crime family because of her religious beliefs ect, naturally he became an elder because of his daughters stand

What not to say...
by joey jojo inhey guys.
i was recently talking to a old friend who is a very active elder.
i was talking about ' the truth' and he suggested i sounded like an apostate because i used terms like ' the society' and ' watchtower '.. i am aware that ' dubspeak ' has changed over the years and i am pretty sure that someone posted about it here but i can't find the thread.

yes there are buzz words that get their suspicions, I purposely use them though but the last time I used the buzz words and the over familiar regular jw terms the guy completely cut the conversation short as he suspected I was a former jw, they hate the term The Watchtower Society which I drop as much as possible, plus they also hate evangelical Christians buzz words like "born again, holy spirit,a close personnel relationship with JC etc"
