Free to "Roast Preacher"

the term "roast preacher" is something many southern baptists from the old south understand.

in 1956 i met ken when he was 4 and i was 5 years old.

both of our families were from the deep southern usa, with his family being southern baptists, conservative southern democrats, and my fmaily roman catholic, moderately conservative southern democrats.. while growing up, almost every sunday morning, when ken's family returned from church ... in the car drive home and through lunch time, they often debated the preacher's sermon, and just as often found fault with the preacher and what he preached.

I liked your Roast Preacher story, Amazing. It was touching how you stood up and gave your Freedom of Speech to Ken's family. Nice.

Comments: I would like to congratulate you for your ability to speak the truth about child abuse. I have an Aunt who is a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses(convert) and she has two daughters who have both been victims of molestation by her second husband. One of her daughter's is her husband's own biological child. My aunt refuses to acknowledge fully the abuse...and remains married to this man because she says she cannot divorce him because of her faith. Her husband is not a babtised Witness...but has studied. My Aunt makes the majority of her decisions about her life based on what "Brother so and so" says is appropriate including her marriage. As a result of the sexual abuse...my Aunt's youngest children were taken by SRS. A non-Witness baby sitter reported that my Aunt's 3 year old had blood on her underwear. SRS refused to return custody of the children until her husband had vacated the premises. He is currently in jail serving time for rape and other crimes. But my Aunt still remains his legal wife. She said that the elders of her congregation said that she can only divorce on the grounds of adultery and that "even if" she feels he's been unfaithful..."she must" have physical proof or the "two witnesses" rule I guess. When her husband was taken to court to answer for the rape of his own daughter...my Aunt was called to testify by the District Attorney...she consulted with the elders first and informed me that she would refuse to testify "if" the elders said no. I was awestruck by this. How could a mother hesitate to protect her own children???!!! I studied with my Aunt for a year and a half with the Live For Ever in Paradise book. I never felt comfortable with the concept of being submissive or with the idea of turning my back on people who had treated me with kindness just because they are considered "worldly". I thought Jesus walked amongst and talked with everyone...including the wicked. When I refused to be baptized in the "truth" my Aunt didnt speak to me for almost two years. I'm a person who has never harmed a child, I don't smoke, I don't use illegal drugs, I don't have illicit sex, I don't use profanity and I've never commited any crimes...unlike my Aunt's husband...and I'm the one she doesn't associate with because I'm not in the "TRUTH." Comments: A few years back when I was still a JW an elder Wally Drurry gave a talk about child molestation in Fairview Conregation and warnd us that there is a sexual predator amoung us. He scared us all and played havock on us that had children because he did not reveal who the molester was. I worried a lot about my 4 children and eventualy asked him who that molester is. He would not say. The elders are guilthy and must be sued as well. My children enjoyed having friends over night and staying with others overnight in their homes. And inadvertedly sometimes in the house of that molester as I found out later . RMNK

why don't we show our support and our outrage at the same time to the governing body for their actions towards bill bowan, barb, and all the silentlambs and see how many we can flood into the wtbs headquarters.

i have added more information about jehovah's witnesses and sexual abuse to my salon blog, here: http://blogs.salon.com/0001138/.

thanks to everyone's efforts yesterday, my blog is now in the top 20 at salon.

the people associated with salon are the movers and shakers of the media, including writers of op-ed pieces for the ny times, etc.

more than 200 tv stations, newspapers and radio stations across the united states partner with msnbc.com to provide local news coverage.. to reach the editors from a particular affiliate, first use our affiliates map to select a city.

once youre on the local headlines page for that city, click on the write us link at the bottom of the right-side navigation block.. .

please everyone....you dont have to type a long winded letter, just let them know about bill bowen and how the org.

is sending the message loud and clear that if you report child molest you will be kicked out.. we need all of you to write..so that they get an avalanche of letters that they just cannot ignore.. come on you owe 2 minutes of your time....bill bowen spends just about all his time to this .. .

does this prove beyond any doubts that the watchtower's entire list of pedophiles names, in brooklyn headquarters, has to be turned over to appropriate law enforcement officials?

by their failure to do so, is not the wts clearly breaking the law?

4skins: First you have to make NOISE to wake up the dead, i.e., the public, the media, the lawyers, the DA's, the FBI, the courts. Who cares if the GB never listens? The government will go after them if the public and the media puts on enough pressure. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT. So, Give it a rest already.
