Had the magazines left at my house today and wanted to "SCREAM" after reading this article in the May 1,2011 WT
by StoneWall inthe article that caught my eye as i was thumbing through it was on page 18 entitled "a peaceable people defend their good name".
this was all about the issues being addresssed in russia and how the j.w.
's were being oppressed/repressed.. but if you look in the box to the left under "a note to the citizens of russia", you will see that they quote the scripture in luke 12:2 "there is nothing carefully concealed that will not be revealed, and secret that will not become known.".

40 million is still 40 million (4,000 million would be 4 billion - although it could be argued that 4 billion is 4,000,000 million)
Doesn't alter the fact they are still being massively hypocritical - grrr!

How could Jesus be ruling the world since 1914 yet Satan is the ruler of the world?
by yadda yadda 2 injuly 2011 awake (p.5) says: the ruler of this world.
the bible states: the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
(john 12:31; 1 john 5:19) that wicked one is satan the devil, a powerful spirit creature who is described as the ruler of the authority of the air.

Once again you open your mouth and we are supplied with a torrent of drivvle! Just because you never let get go of something (in this case authority) which has been taken from you it doesn't mean, and cannot mean, you still have it! When you put forward an analogy and self declare that it falls down because of this or that I have to shut down because you've only created a 'strawman' - not a reasoned response.
It beggars the imagination how JWs expect everybody to jump through hoops and circles to pertpetuate the idea of christianity as a complex thing and needs complex thinking. It's the magician's illusion - create a complex side-show and you'll miss the simple stuff. If the 'foolish and ignoble' were chosen in favour of the educated then why is so much of the doctrine ridiculously convoluted and complex.
One other point, you simply can't have a remnant at the beginning of something... it can ONLY be at the end of a thing! There was no remnant in 33CE - the Remnant, as you call it, could only occur in 1914/1918/1919/1933/1935 and that assumes the JWs are correct as much of it is speculative chronology combined with twisted, warped self-promoting reasoning.
If we have this superior rule taking place within the organization then we should expect there to exist a Spiritual Paradise... that presupposes all are safe within this Kingdom rule. If that is the case, why is there so much harm and injustice within it's confines? If you deny there is harm then I should suggest you interview those who have suffered at it's hands. This is not a strawman argument - it is evidence as the to existence of the whole establishment of the Rigtheous Estate - one which pertains to a Spiritual Paradise; one that JWs say exist because of the King's Authourity having been given to him.

In general, what is the ethically correct response if a minor tells you someone is molesting him/her?
by InterestedOne ini was thinking about what the elders are trained to do versus what i personally would do if a minor confided in me that someone was molesting him/her.
i'm not sure what the ethically correct first response should be.
my first thought is to contact some kind of law enforcement that specializes in investigating situations like this with people experienced in getting to the truth of the matter.

You don't half talk some rot eggnog! You haven't even a notion of the overall integrated belief system of JWs. You can't just go around and pick bits that you need to appease your overinflated ego.
Since, as you mentioned, God is not intervening in such matters today, the protection of children is in the hands of every caring adult. Jehovah is big enough to take care of himself and his own name. Children are not.
Aren't you forgetting that JWs are constantly being taught they are living in the Spiritual Paradise mentioned in Isaiah and that Paradise has been created by God himself? Isn't it a basic Christian precept that Christians have an obligation to 'look after widows and orphans ..."? This includes the published inference that includes the peacable physical nature of all who live in that so-called Spritual Paradise. That too means having the right to expect these peacable conditions in the congregation.
Go back and read more eggnog instead of constantly spouting mindless drivvle!

"Disfellowshipping" versus "Disfellowshiping"

both ways of spelling the word, the single p and the double p versions, seems to be correct.
looking up the word in the wt the 2010 lib cd-rom, i discovered that the watchtower magazine used, up to december 1981, the single p (269 times) version but since july 1982, privileged the double p (231 times) version.

New simplified Watchtower
by alanv inbeginning with the july 15th 2011 edition of the watchtower, the society are producing a simplified version of the study copy.. this is apparantly for the many people whose first language is not english, and yet they live in a predominantly englsih speaking county.. the normal study edition will still be produced but it looks like the cong.
will be able to ask for a supply of the simplified version each month.. this simplified version can be downloaded from the watchtower site.. http://www.jw.org/index.html.

Hmmm... does that mean there is a hidden agenda of making more literature available for 'less translating'?
Or maybe they have an agenda of convertign all languages into the pure 'new langauge' of Simplified English
