ok, i was having a chuckle to myself this morning looking at this month's pictures on the jw calendar, which depicts the cheesy activities of the elders.

i was wondering if folks would like to suggest what they are actually saying on this picture: .

Black Bro - "You see obstaining from blood, not only keeps the congragation clean but it will also prevent your daughter from becoming a lesbian or drug adict."

White Bro - "It's in here some where.... oh here it is, since the blood of cows were used in sacrafice to Jehovah in the days of Isreal it is okay to take a transfusion of cow blood in a greater fullfillment of our day"

Does praying "work"?

has anybody got any hard evidence that asking for something, through prayer, actually gives them what they were asking for?.

jesus promised to give anything to them that asked.

have you asked for something (in prayer), but it hasn't been given?.

It worked both ways for me. When I prayed that my son catch a baseball at a Major League baseball game, with in the next 10 minutes a foul ball was hit directly at him and he got it.

But when I asked God to remove the crazy doubts my ex-wife had about my being faithful to her and her desire for a divorce. (after all, Jehovah hates a divorcing, so this should have been in-line with his will) She claims the doubts were not removed and she went through with the divorce tearing the family apart.

I have not been on speaking terms with god since. I guess he is just a bigger baseball fan than he is a fan of the marriage instatution.

What else do people fall for?

what other scams ,schemes and crazy stuff do people fall for apart from becoming jehovahs witnesses?do you know of things to watch out for that some others may not be well informed enought about to know the problems involved?

homoeopathy is one.companies making millions out of the suffering of desperate people and selling them suger and water.

the only effect homoeopathy can have is a placebo one that may cause you to be more relaxed and less stressed due to the belief you are being cured, which will aid recovery,but that would just happen if you were lied to by your doctor.

Get rich quick scams. This scam plays on the greed of people who do not like to work. Even the JWs are constantly warned about going into buisness with brothers and getting ripped off. After all, once we get rich we can quit our jobs and pioneer full time.

no one else in my life can really relate to the intertwined emotions i am going through.

my bear friends are there, including mitch, and they they try to keep my cheered up.

Sorry to hear that you have been down. I hope you feel better soon. I miss reading your posts here. You have such a great sense of humor and I always made a point to read you posts and laughed many times at your witty replies to others.

I became very depressed after my divorce, I did nothing but watch TV and drag myself to work. My quality of work was way off and I felt horable. It did get better and it will for you also, don't give up.

* the "f" word spelled out on the information board in the back of the hall.

the person used the tacks used for posting letters and talks and spelled out the expletive.

During the memorial talk a woman who was not familiar to me walked half way up the isle, dropped trou and mooned everyone in the KH. Turned around and walked out without saying a word.

A brother who was known for having a bad temper cussed from the stage as he hit his head on a speaker hanging from the wall as he was going up to give a talk.

A young brother in his 20s from South America for the first year professed his singleness and would not be tied down by a woman, then married a 60 y/o sister widow so he could get a green card. After the marriage he told her he would not sleep with her.... the elders told him that he must pay his marriage dues.

GB disassociates itself!!

dear brothers:

as you have admitted, the watch tower bible & tract society did join the united nations as a non government organization in 1992 ending in 2001, and according to the following watch tower this means that by their own actions they disassociated them selves from jehovahs organization which means that we must treat them like disfellowshiped ones.

in other words they are no longer jehovahs witnesses or have any right to that name.

If becoming a member is not what is important, but the personal acts that follow that determines ones neutrality, why did so many brothers and sisters die in Malawie because the WTS would not allow them join a single party system?

Should they not been allowed to buy join the membership and then do nothing to support it when that time came when called to show that support by some action?

Using your logic with the WT membership with the UN, it would apear that the WTS has quite a bit of BLOOD on her hands.

I love the one where Homer becomes a Chiopractor by pushing people backwards over trash cans. The Chiopractors try and get him put out of buisness and Homer says: "How Ironic, isn't that what the medical doctors tried to do to you guys."

andyman stated in another thread:this got me thinking about the change in the 1914 generation.

i remember how this was a very important point when i was studying back in the late 80's.

it was explained to me over and over that this system would defenitly end before the generation of 1914 passed away.

I did not see this in any of the articles posted in this thread so far. I did see where they said in the QFR "some Christains...." but it looked like they were refering to themeselves as they compared it to Jesus own deciples wanting to know when, so it looked to me more like justification for them instead of pointing blame at others.

If there is a quote that specificly mades reference to "brothers" not "speculating" I would be interested in seeing that.
