in those prophecies, israel is said to 'not use lies or a tricky tounge'.... imagine the level of hypocrisy!.

Thanks for sharing that quote! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! That statement is riddled with all sorts of implications! Most interesting was the attack on "individuals" within false religions. Usually the WTS goes full-bore after the organizations themselves.
But what about people who cling to such organizations, as they say, and then they die before Armageddon? Well, then all is forgiven according to WTS doctrine. They'll get the resurrection, so it didn't matter much anyway.
And they teach that most people will ABANDON their religions before Armageddon comes! That's their interpretation of certain verses in Revelation and other related verses. So, if people ABANDON their religion before Armageddon, it doesn't matter anyway--- they stopped clinging!
So the whole statement is entirely meaningless!!!!

I just stopped attending meetings 5 months ago. After reading this board, Freeminds, and Crisis of Conscience, I have come to the EXACT same conclusion you did. (Great minds think alike? LOL) You worded it very well.
I have opened my eyes to see that there are truly many very kind people of other denominations or even are independent, and yet have a strong faith in Jesus Christ. The details may differ, but the Bible basics are the same.
It reminded me of an old WT study article about Jesus' illustration of the dragnet. The churches have been used to expose people to the Bible, and then suitable fish are brought in to the Kingdom, whereas the unsuitable ones are discarded.
So, many religions which use the Bible do actually attract right-hearted people to the good news about Jesus Christ. As to who is a candidate for salvation and who is not, I shall leave that up to Jesus. I will just try to display the faith necessary to win his smile of approval.

the few i've spoken to have not been able to tell me what exactly they mean by reforming the wts.
so if there are any "reformers" aroung here ( that goes for you too lurkers .

Let me clarify. With the "nudge here, nudge there" statement, I was expressing the point of view of the reformers. The AJWRB and Silent Lambs movements are trying to ease SOME of the suffering of the adherents.
In a sense, I'm with you & Farkel. If the WTS were to go down in one big heap, I wouldn't miss it. (I'd be glad to have my friends & family back, LOL.) But that's not likely to happen very soon, excepting an "act of God". So the small reforms do fill a need.

In general, it would be impossible to reform the whole structure of the WT Society. That would be hopeless to even try.
I think the reformers are going after specific issues, because JW's as an organization aren't going away soon, and millions of people are hurt by their resistance to changes in policy.
Two specific examples: (1) Non-reporting of child molestation to the proper authorities, but generally keeping it "under wraps" in the congregation, and not disciplining those involved. (2) The blood tranfusion issue. The reform movement for this issue, which I believe is called AJWRB, has helped bring about some change in the types of fractions that are allowed by the official Society policy.
So overall reform is impossible. But a nudge here, a nudge there, to take away some suffering of innocent adherents (including children).

Welcome aboard! You strike on some very familiar themes: The harshness of shunning, the hypocrisy of judgmental elders, the damning of those (like Ray Franz) who leave, and the CYA mentality of those who come out of the woodwork to be noticed during the C.O. visit.
It seems that there is a "threshhold" that people cross once they have found out the truth about "the truth". You have crossed that threshhold, and there is no turning back.
Please continue to post & read here. You'll find support! You face a hard situation, and isn't it good to know you won't have to do it alone!
