In Chicago a few years back, the genious brothers decided to use the outdoor White Sox stadium instead of the indoor racetrack. I heard that one day it was SO hot people were passing out. The next day, it was pouring. Of course the people stayed like sheep.
We didn't want to deal with the crap, so we went to the indoor air conditioned arena in Rockford.

Doublethink examples of Jehovah's Witnesses
by Mr Ben injw's are experts in what orwell called doublethink.
we often say that on this board.
here are a couple of doublethink examples:.

- Governing Body - Although The GB is directed by Holy Spirit and is God's channel of Truth, it contains imperfect men who can provide (and have a history of providing) some false information. This information will get later corrected as "new light"
- Truth - The Watchtower provides Bible Truths. However one must hold to "Current Truths" and ignore the "past Truths" as 'new light' comes. "Past Truths" were never untrue, aren't untrue now, but just have been replaced with the newer "current Truth". So a "Past Truth" was never false.
- Loyalty - A Witness should be 100% loyal to the organization, even though it contains imperfect men who can sometimes provide false information, and be otherwise influenced by imperfect men.
- Research - Witnesses encourage people of other faiths to research and question their faiths, but are strongly discouraged from researching and questioning their own faith. -

Have you ever gotten up in the middle of the night and while you're half ass asleep go to sit and end up falling in??? That's why!!
I never understood that logic. If guys at night have to pull the seat up (and we never complain), then how is checking the seat and pulling it down any different?

Assembly coming up- Still not talking to family but I will see them....
by cognac ini actually did talk briefly with my dad last week but still not talking to my mom or sister.
should i try to break the ice now or then or what?
should i just not break the ice and let it be awkward?

Hello Cognac! I was wondering how you were doing since you're normally a heavy poster, and I can relate so much to what you're going through.
I say take the high road. Talk to them and be pleasant. Don't feed on any 'typical apostate' behavior. They are your family and you love them, and they are just acting the way they were programmed. -

KEEP this secret.....don't tell anybody
by journey-on ini need a biblical answer to something.
when jesus performed his healing miracles, why did he tell the person.
if he had come to show himself as the messiah, why would he perform.

HERE is a video showing how Jesus changed water to wine (very entertaining, only 1 minute long):
http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/152707/?searchterm=Super%20Best%20Friends
For those who can't or don't want to view the video, here's a synopsis:
Jesus: The miracle I'm most famous for is turning water into wine
Stan: Can you do it again?
Jesus: Behold! Here you can see ordinary water. Now turn around.
Stan: (Turns around)
Jesus: (Replaces water with wine from under table) Ok. Now turn back.
Stan: (Turns back)
Jesus: Low and behold! It is now wine!
Stan: That's it? That's how you did that trick? That trick sucks, Jesus.
Jesus: Well, I guess it worked better on people 2,000 years ago.

SO funny. We had this family move relocate to our area from New York. They were very nice, but there was something weird that no one could put their finger on. We always joked they were mobsters who were forced to a Witness protection program...

some quirks of the DC talks...
by metaspy inhere is a run down of some special things i noticed at the district convention.. i probably took better notes now than when i used to go as a jw.. however, my notes now are mostly "stupid" things that they say on stage.
saturday.
symposium: directed by god's spirit in our ministry - speaking the word of god with boldness.

Here's another thought. If you define the reason 'leaving' as the reason getting DF'd, then I bet most are due to action. Apostacy is an action. DA yourself is an action. Accepting a blood transfusion is an action. Speaking against the Organization is an action. I bet this is all symantecs.

Most of those who leave the organization, leave because of conduct, not doctrine
I would not be surprised if that was technically true if you define 'leave' as getting DF'd. It is possible that most who are DF'd are because of conduct. From my experience, many of these people return.
However, those who truly leave and don't return, do so because of doctrinal issues.

Have you ever seen someone else abort a fade?
by Mickey mouse inthinking back i've seen a couple of examples of brothers who have almost slipped out of the organization.
stopped attending meetings for months, inactive in field service and then come back with a vengeance.
in the two particular cases i'm thinking of both came back as real company men and have risen through the ranks to levels they previously hadn't attained.. i sometimes wonder whether they were consciously struggling with apostasy and chose for whatever reason to plunge back into the organization?
-
Robert7
There are 2 types of faders:
1) Those who still think it's the truth but just are worn out, tired, or just don't want to go to meetings
2) Those who see the light and don't think it's the truth.
I think the ones who fade and come back are #1. I've talked to a number of people who are either DF'd or are very irregular, but still think it's the truth. Even if they have doubts, they suppress them because it's the truth. -

It's more important to "rely on Jehovah (WTS)". He will provide 'food & sustenance'.
Poor people means control.
