10 years, although I've slacked a lot of them, and had strong lingering doubts about the last 2 years.

Wow, someone actually advertised the memorial on a billboard. I wonder if someone will get reproved by the WTS for being too innovative, or going beyond what the Society says.
Also, very classy "Howard Johnson Hotel"

Why not use mass-media...?
by Moxie inas a witness i had always wondered why the society did not use modern mass-media such as television broadcast, etc.
to communicate its "life saving message" to the masses.
afterall isn't preaching the most important work for a jw?

To me personally, this lack of effective use of media is another example that this is NOT the truth.
If this was a lifesaving work, the WTS should use EVERY method to reach the most people out there. If this was all true, then the bloodguilt would be on the hands of the WTS, since by using ineffective means, they are slowing the preaching work significantly. Even the Mormons were running TV commercials for years...
You can't tell me that a "spirit directed organization" would not know better than to miss using ANY kind of mass media. -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses a cult? (No Exit)
by sacolton inthere is simply no proper or honorable way to leave the cult.
period.
to leave is to fail, to die, to be defeated by evil.

I think Franz put it well in COC, it's not a cult, but a religion with many cult-like traits. Does that make it a cult, I don't necessarily think so, but the fact we're discussing this shows that they are somewhere in the middle...

I had a 'crisis of conscience' myself as I was slowly fading for years. I had many issues that were gnawing at me. The biggest one being the high pressure to praise the Organization. Officially fading (inactive) since Dec 2007, trying hard to keep from getting DF'd...

Do You Ever Fear The Jehovah's Witnesses???
by minimus inare you completely devoid of fear regarding jws in your life at this point?

For a while during my doubting period I was SO afraid of being DF'd due to the shunning... at this point I could care less, and part of me would prefer that I get DF'd just go get it over with. This whole process took only about 2 months, lol..... Otherwise, never feared them...
