My stepson is addicted to science shows. I told him that cartoons make you stupid but documentaries make you smart when he was about four, and I guess he took me a little too seriously. He shuts down when family bible interrogation starts. -

Catholics admit failure - Wake up WTS
by berrygerry inrome (ap) pope francis' point man on clerical sex abuse said monday the failure of the catholic church to punish bishops who covered up for pedophiles had seriously harmed its credibility and that it must now lead the way by "humbly making the commitment to accountability, transparency and zero tolerance.
"cardinal sean o'malley, archbishop of boston, said canon lawyers and theologians were reviewing proposals to present to the pope on holding bishops and religious superiors accountable.
the proposals were developed by francis' commission of experts, which o'malley chairs and includes two survivors of abuse.. ....

I think they should get a 100% tax break for not having pedophilia, money laundering, elder abuse, child abuse, animal cruelty, human trafficking, etc., etc. scandals. If they fail, tax them. That would be a policy the Watchtower, and all religious corporations would understand. -

JW Children - We're normal, and have fun at conventions, etc.
by berrygerry inwas reading a poster's experience with custody, and the info in wts child custody packet.. children are prepped to present themselves as normal, with school friendships, hobbies, activities, etc.
and not to mention that their life-goal is to pioneer.. the school brochure (1983) contains this gem:.
"they [witness families] also travel several times each year to attend larger gatherings called circuit assemblies and district conventions.

Na nananana I'm the unbelieving husband who is the only one with a drivers license! I can make sure the vacation spirit infects a convention visit. Bwahahahaha! -

Why I became agnostic after leaving the Watchtower
by donny inone of many things that led me to agnosticism after leaving the jw's was the cognitive dissonance i encountered with those in the mainstream churches, especially the really conservative ones.
these types would scream out in protest (rightly so) on all of the current atrocities going on in the world regarding islam and its radical extremists, but then justify the savage murders and slaughter perpetuated by israel in the old testament.. often i would take these passages and replace the names and places of these scriptures with current ones.
for example 1 samuel 15:3 reads "now go, attack the amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them.

If Jesus were alive today, he would be hanging out with homeless Jewish Christians who got cast out by their bourgeois parents somewhere in the San Fernando valley, turning bottles of Two Buck Chuck into Kristall. BTW did anybody see Black Jesus on Cartoon Network?
I went back to the Orthodox Church after 7 years of being married to my wife and ashamed to show my face. I am attending for Lent. I have a lot of baggage to let go of, so I need a purge.
Deep down though My priest would probably say I have become an antinomian.
Deep in my heart,I believe in Christianity, but not Churchianity. I hate the empty suits no matter what the religion. If I were to preach I would probably continue my Nazarite vow but also do stunts like dress up all Twisted Sister only with my bushy beard to illustrate that America has whored out herself to Israel and Saudi Arabia. The prophets of The Bible were Patriotic Shock Jocks who ritually violated Jewish law to make a point, as did Jesus himself. Generation Y communicates everything through irony, afterall. A true preacher of God should violate norms to wake people up. Not knock on doors or produce a cheesy tv show being as nonthreatening as possible while promoting a totalitarian ecclesiolatrous religion. In this reality TV world they are as distracted as the people of Israel were in Christ's time. That understanding is sorely lacking from the pulpit. Gene Scott perhaps understood this, but he was a greedy megalomaniacal narcissist who abused that niche.

In a previous thread I wrote that I felt as if I had been auricularly sodomized after hearing that doggerel. It has the so bad its good feeling of something produced by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, only without any of the irony, which also makes it a bit creepy. Did somebody put ecstasy into the music departments coffee?. We all know carts don't have souls. -

The 'Message" is spread into 700 languages...SO WHAT??? Big Deal!
by stuckinarut2 inyou know how the org goes on and on about how the "preaching work" takes place in so many languages by the website?.
they also trumpet the fact that witnesses are in "sooooo many lands and nations"....... so what!.
just because the message is spread far and wide, does not mean the content of the message is correct or of value.. take the example of coca-cola or mcdonalds.... these products are in nearly every nation around the world....but does that mean they are beneficial or healthy?

The less they translate the scriptures, the better.
For the preaching of the cross is unto them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

It is somewhat amazing that such stupid, ignorant people can learn all those languages. Becoming a good linguist or translator is no small task. -

All things considered, when will THE JW religion end?
by sowhatnow inid give a guess of maybe another 15 to 20 years ,.
nothing will be the same , if there even is a headquarters.. opinion?.

I predict an inwardly focused time, in which the preaching work becomes focused on redeeming the born-in apostates and they become fed up with the world. They may also stop dressing to match the decade and appear quaint in the same way as the amish only in a 20th century style. -

Semi Home Study Based Charter School vs. Regular School
by SonoftheTrinity ini blame my stepkids bad grades in school squarely on the watchtower.
they don't get enough sleep because of the demands of family bible study and thursday meetings but comprimise isn't in my wife's vocabulary.
my stepson has friends at school but there are also bullies, and the classes are overcrowded with sicknesses spreading through them in a way that is detrimental to the family's health.

Attacking the elders, can that bring down the cult??
by Crazyguy inthe borg has left out in the cold the victims of child molesters all to save their reputation and have used the elders to do their bidding in these evil works.
they have even made changes to their policies to put more of the responsibility on the elders.
so if the lawyers of these molestation victims which normally go after the money ie the borg were to also aggressively go after these elders in these cases could this not start a ripple effect where by elders find out and start resigning en mass to protect themselves knowing the borg not going to help them?.

Get a subpoena for the entire GB, that is the one thing that is going to bring them down to earth.
