i remember after i had been inviting in a couple of ladys to chat a few times (but i was not a study at this point) i asked outright if me and my kids would be destroyed at armageddon , and one of them replied "yes you will if you are not a jw " i was terrified , i rang my dad and he said to tell them to piss off nxt time they come because they are a cult , how i wish i had listened , but i started a study , and i remeber an elder telling me that the other lady that used to call on me cringed when her friend said to me outright that yes you will be destroyed, and had wished she had put it differently (lied perhaps ) this elder told me that when you study you may not like everthing you learn but its like being given a meal , just because you dont like something on your plate dosnt mean you cant eat the rest of the meal !!!!! is it in their literature to lie to studys ? i know that a lot of jws have said they havnt heard about the michael porter and local child molester scandal when people have mentioned it on the ministery, there is no way that can be true considering the coverage it got , do you think it is announced at the hall to pretend they know nothing so they dont have to discuss it ?

do you think that the jws that check out this site are affected ?
by looloo inobviously some of you were , but some topics i notice get huge amouts of folk reading them but not replying , i think that had i had internet access years ago and read some of these threads i wouldnt have lasted another week at kingdom hall , and yet i still imagine going to sit in the hall during a meeting so i could see what its like listening to a talk without a programmed mind and knowing that its a sign of a cult if your friends and family warn you its a cult but the cult tells you its just satan trying to get you out "the truth"!

what about giving dubs a checklist of what makes a cult when they call ?
by looloo inif you had some leaflets printed out and when a dub knocked on your door you could pretend you are doing research into religions and cults ,and you are searching for truth but want to be carefull not to get involved with a cult , give them a leaflet and ask them to check whether their religion fits any of the categorys , then watch them either outright lie to you or watch them look more horrified each one they read , maybe you could try it on your family thats in too .

Issues That Made You ANGRY While You Were A Jehovah's Witness
by minimus inwhen i look back, i think of some things that really angered me about the organization.
i was raised as a witness and i was taught from a very early age that "reaching out" was the most important things i could do in life.
i was to reach out for "privileges" and get baptized.

people being oh so judgemental , being critical of worldlys , elders lording of you, feeling like tom cruise in the film the firm (mafia ) to name but a few , i didnt worry about the paedophile problem because that sort of thing didnt happen in jehovahs org (well it did but we didnt know about that then ,just the elders knew) and i hate the way they go on about how bad the world is ,when some nice things happen too

i have a friend that was emotionally and physically abused by her jw hub
by looloo inbut she was told by an elder to put up and shut up as she had been told not to marry him in the first place , when she told her jw mum of the abuse, my friend was counselled for causing trouble in the congregation and in future not to discuss it with anyone !!!!

but she was told by an elder to put up and shut up as she had been told not to marry him in the first place , when she told her jw mum of the abuse, my friend was counselled for causing trouble in the congregation and in future not to discuss it with anyone !!!!!she stayed with him for years and carried on going to meetings despite not really believing it, then snapped and had an affair so that hub would divorce her , he didnt , so she started smoking and left him , and was disfellowshipped even though she had not attended a meeting for at least 7 months , hubby still did not want a divorce , but eventually did , i think it is so awfull that she was not shown compassion , i bet that elder wouldnt of expected his daughter to put up and shut up ! another elder did show compassion for her however and another elder didnt want to be involved in a domestic! where was the holy spirit directing the differentattitudes of these elders , on vacation perhaps ! did any of you have a similar situation ?

by looloo ini was when i had an affair , but this elders pioneer daughter told me she understood why i had done it , i was feeling dreadfull and so guilt ridden but he said i should through myself at my hubs feet and beg forgiveness from him and had i lived 2000 years ago i would have been stoned to death !
the strange thing is a few years later this elder told me he had feelings for me , but he was married and old enough to be my dad , although i liked him as a person by then and had forgotten what he had said to me about being stoned to death, i was a bit annoyed that he told me not to tell anyone ,and yet was telling other people to tattle tale on others , i know he felt really bad about his feelings though and i did feel sorry for him , but asked him not to visit anymore as it made me feel guilty towards his wife , maybe it was gods way of getting him to see things from a wrong doers point of view ,as he had a reputation for being very harsh on wrong doers (like myself) maybe he makes a better elder nowadays after that insight , or maybe they think i was sent by satan to seduce a pioneer and an elder !

Is my JWD addiction healthy?

when i get into work, i make myself a coffee and go back to my desk and check out jwd.
sometimes, when i am standing in a queue or waiting for someone and i am not near either of my computers, i will browse on my cell phone.

i really relate to this , im the same my family say im addicted too , but i feel that people on here know how i feel about my issues with jws , my friends and workmates just think its totally bonkers that religion and can not understand how i was sucked in , my hub is disfellowshipped but rarely discusess it with me and when he does his bitterness and anger all comes out "i hate them , i hate them all " (jws) i think he needs to see someone because he keeps his anger inside about everything and i worry that it will affect him .
