This is so sad. This morning I talked to my wife about Ians illness and now I have to read that it has already had a bad end. I had hoped otherwise. Thanks for keeping us informed which must be hard for you. It is good that JWD is still up so that we can keep in contact. Ian was more than a very loved discussion board member but many of us have met him in person. Please accept our condolence.

just to let everyone on here who knows my dad, that he is seriously ill, and unfortunately on life support.

he has renal and respiratory failure as a result of the quickest onset of pneumonia i have ever seen... it came on in the early hours of this morning.

he is waiting for an intensive care bed but the nearest one is 200 miles away.

Please take also my best wishes to Ian. I have met and spoke to him in Weston-Super-Mare back in the old days. I am sad that he is not well at the moment.

Doctrinal ramifications of large increase in 2008 memorial partakers?

the nearly 10% increase in partakers at the memorial in the 2008 annual service report is a huge increase.

there were increases in the previous years too.. this massive increase is no doubt attributeable to the 'new light' this year that the calling of the 'heavenly class' was not closed in 1935, as previously taught.

the new understanding this year is that the calling of the 'anointed' class is 'evidently' still open.

I think at the time of SitS VII they also believed that the great crowd goes to heaven. However, normal reaction now would be to discourage taking from the bread and the wine. But how could they - most of the GB nowadays started to partake after 1935.

The Watchtower of Feb 15th, 2009 clearly states on p. 28 that the number of annointed has been decreasing over the years...
