i'm just wondering what everyone's favorite brand and type of ice cream is.
i recently have been able to eat dairy products after having my gall bladder removed.
i always thought i was lactose intolerant, but all along it was my g.b.
Twitch recommends:
Blue licorice
Dude! Who makes it and where do you get it??
I discovered licorice ice cream back in the late sixties when Baskin Robbins offered it for a while. Apparently market response was underwhelming, for I don't believe they offered it for more than that one summer – but I loved it. I also have fond memories of their Grand Marnier ice cream, available during the same period, which was also a concentrated dose of dark chocolate – in fact I ate them together more than once!
Today, I love pralines & cream, available in a few sugar-free versions, and coffee, which is not, for some stupid reason.
Oh, and don't forget Melona bars. The Wikipedia article praises "its smooth and rich taste of real melon flesh," but the label reveals that there isn't any. Damn convincing and delicious imitation, though.

oompa,
Having the balls to pull the plug on my fake faith was extremely hard....That means I can do hard things, and sobriety for many people is hard.
Bravo!! This is THE MOST potent weapon in your arsenal. As long as you can remember this, you will survive - and thrive.

or it could be crazy and funny both!
i think we have all had pranks played on us as well as played jokes on others as well.
somehow - i have found it certainly loosens life up somewhat , and makes it more enjoyable, having a sense of humor !
I'm too tenderhearted to be much of a practical joker. One day, however, I was suddenly seized by a fierce desire to start a rumor about a workmate (no idea why!). Yet I didn't want to hurt her.
So the next time I passed her desk, I said, where everyone else could hear, "Happy birthday, Faith." Everyone got all excited and rushed to congratulate her, and she had to set them all straight.
She got me the next day by returning the greeting as soon as I arrived at work.

to state the obvious, rock and roll has its roots in the blues.
if you listen to many "classic" rock bands - like led zep, the who and the stones - the influence of the blues is self-evident.
the members of both those bands grew up listening to the blues.
who likes Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf, Big Mama Thorton, Billie Holiday, Bo Didley, Eric Clapton, Sonny Boy Williamson, Blind Willy McTell, ... John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughn...?Me me me! Also Mojo Buford, B.B. King, Big Bill Broonzy, Clifton Chenier (Cajun, but from Texas, where lots of the Blues soaked in), Leadbelly, Memphis Slim, Rev. James Cleveland ("Get Right Church!"), Rev. Charlie Jackson (more sanctified blues).
Mind you, I also listen to mariachi, gypsy brass bands, klezmer, Pharaoh Sanders, Zap Mama...

the organization.
i have observed in a number of threads some of the members here have expressed the need to return to the org.
or to become active again.
Let's just say my conscience forbids me to go back.

by walter martin.
anyone read this?
my used copy from amazon just came today.
leolaia:
What I remember about his JW stuff is that it was filled with errors of fact -- most of them pretty minor, but the cumulative effect made me dislike the book.
Yeah, when I was a Unitarian (post-jaydub), my pastor had the same problem with it. If Walter Martin gets two religions wrong, it doesn't look good for the rest of the book. (As I recall, the section on Buddhism wasn't any better; so, three-for-three...)
Rev. B. actually thrust his copy in my hands, telling me to take it away - that it was having a corrosive, Necromicon-like effect on the other books in his library

ancient religious texts seem to be great works of fiction.
talking snakes, fish headed oannes coming up out of the sea to teach man.
ferocious battles fought, intrigue, love, hate, the whole 9 yards.. is it possible that some religions could have developed out of what in ancients time were popular works of fiction?
