Hello all!

Recently I went to the Circuit Convention. An illustration was mentioned that really made me mad. They were talking again about "Superior Education(tm)".

They said that "you can see a 5 stories high building. There is a wooden ladder in the side of the building, and lots of big and sharp stones in the floor. The ladder is in bad shape and rotten... Would you let your child climb??"

They compared the College with the rotten ladder!!!! Can you believe it??!

"Everybody should start pioneering right after High School"...

As always, studying was a "conscience matter", but don't do it!!

How do you feel when you hear this nonsense???

Is it official policy that elders MUST advise the parent to report abuse?

notwithstanding the plain fact that the watchtower's heinous "two witness" rule is obviously flawed (scripturally and in terms of natural justice), it seems to me that as long as the elders are advising the parent/caregiver to go to the authorities in every case where an accusation of child abuse has occurred that this is sufficient for the elders to discharge their legal duty, shouldn't it?.

i have heard rumours that this is in fact the official current policy (since when i don't know) of the society: that they tell the elders to advise the parent/caregiver to inform the authorities of alleged child abuse.

but how firm is this policy?

There I mentioned the only 2 letters we currently have in the congregation archives. None of them give specific instructions about how to deal with child abuse allegations. It only says that you need to "call the Legal Department". (Obviously, you will not have anything in writing from them!). And says NOTHING about conforting the victim!

They are doing the very similarly in the Elder's schools. They dictate, and you have to write the changes in your own book... They don't gave you anything printed... And all the changes are to cover the Organization's back.

The first time somebody made me "use my brain", was in 1994.

I traveled to NJ for a seminar, and I started talking about the bible with a guy that I met there. He asked me if I was "saved". I borrowed his bible (he had a copy of a Reina-Valera version), and I showed him some specific verses I knew from James, about "faith without works is dead". I thought that I was teaching him about the bible!!! :) He grabbed it, and then showed me dozens of verses from Romans, that showed me that Faith was more important! Then, I started noticing that I didn't knew about the bible as much as I thought...and started reading the context!

As a good WT member, I suppressed all my doubts for years, even when I saw discrepancies between what the WT says vs. the instructions I received as an Elder.

In the beginning of 2007, I started doing a reserch of information for a travel to Europe. I don't know why, I started researching about Jerusalem in Wikipedia, and I noticed the destruction of Jerusalem's date of 587BC by Babylon. I started researching every book and encyclopedia that I found for weeks... The 607BC date had no base, so the 1914, 1918, 1935... all is a fairy tale...

The rest is history...
