After being on a waiting list for three and a half years I've finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel and am going under the knife for a gastric sleeve operation in March. I can't tell you how pumped I am because I'll finally be able to re-take my life after being severely overweight for several years.
I gained a ton of weight after being put on meds for bipolar disorder and it made exercising a painful chore. I'm looking forward to the pure pleasure of just going out for a hike in the woods again or taking my canoe for a spin in the river. I'm also looking forward to fitting in cars that I'm too big for at the moment and taking a Scion FR-S for a test drive.
My heaviest weight was 475 on a 5'10" frame so we're talking about a potentially life-saving operation. I've been on a pre-op 900 calorie supervised liquid diet for two weeks (with four more weeks to go) and so far I've already noticed a difference in the pain in my knees and my diabetes symptoms have also disappeared.
My goal weight is 200. Has anyone else had gastric surgery?

Jehovah invented the sword, according to Genesis.
by marmot inso much for a loving god if you're a bible apologist and take genesis literally.
"after he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the garden of eden cherubim and a *flaming sword* flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
" genesis 3:24 niv .

Why does the WT insist that the first five books of the bible were written by Moses?
by marmot inany biblical scholar worth his salt will tell you otherwise, and it's not as if this is a new concept.
as early as the 1700s people were noticing that the first books of the bible had numerous authors.
tell that to an elder, though, and you'll be booted for apostasy faster than you can say spanish inquisition.

Nope, haven't read that one but I'll put it on my list.

next week's bible reading (Gen. 1-5) stumpers.for your "in" family conversations & sly comments.
by prologos inyou may add many, but here are two:.
1) vegetation made on day 3, animals formed day 5,6, but- then.
in gen 2, man seems to be the primary creation, and vegetation and then animals were formed from the dust and brought to him to name them.

The part that I always found funny was that god made Adam and only made a woman for him after he couldn't find a suitable mate among the animals. Imagine the experimentation that went on.
Also, god puts a spinning SWORD in front of the garden entrance when A&E had barely invented loincloths. So much for a god who hates violence when he's the one who gave humanity the blueprint for edged weapons.

Already read that, I'm asking why the Watchtower clings to this tradition. Why does it matter?

The bible itself doesn't even state that Moses wrote them.

Suggestions for car buying
by FlyingHighNow inif you were a lady and you were 55 and had $5,000 or less to spend on a used car, what would buy?
top concerns: good mpg; reliable; in not having major issues like ball joints breaking, timing belts breaking, etc.
not too expensive to maintain.

If you're carting around tall teenagers get a 2002 or newer Honda CRV. Tons of room, dead-nuts reliable, timing chain, four-wheel drive for when the snow flies and the rear luggage floor can even be removed and unfolded into a picnic table!

Just watched a documentary that made me yearn for the JWs again
by marmot inwell, almost.
i just watched the documentary "dirty wars" on netflix and it left me so emotionally overwhelmed that i watched it a second time back-to-back.
it's unreal how cynical this left me feeling about obama and the us government's global war on terror, it's so bleak that i almost wished for the simple life of being a jw with the naive promise of big daddy jehovah coming to sweep away all the wickedness at armageddon.. watch this movie!.

Is my sarcasm meter broken here or do you people really not read anything past the thread title?

Uhhh, I think you missed the point of my post. I was being facetious, hence why I said "almost". I mean seriously, do I really need to walk you through this?

500GB PS3 GTA:V bundle with a subscription to Playstation Network is totally worth it. They give you tons of free games to download with the subscription.
