I had coffee with my rabidly devout witness friend the other night and it was sad listening to him talk. Everything and I do mean EVERYTHING in life has either Satan or Jehovah behind it, according to him.
Every minute detail. Scary.

But WHY don't they disfellowship bloodtakers ?
by aligot ripounsous inany jw knows that one of the very bad things that a christian must not do is accepting a blood transfusion.
respect for the sanctity of blood ranks highest, in jw theology, on the scale of christian standards, along with not being a murderer, an adulterer, a robber, etc.
in fact, it is the identifying feature of jws for the onlooker.

BFD - you'll be booted alright, only it will be because you "chose to longer be one of Jehovah's Witnesses" and not because you were put on front of a committee. It's just a technicality but the result is the same in that you would be shunned.

Recipes for Pig Tails
by snowbird inwhen i was a child, my mother used to cook pig tails a lot.. she would stew them down in onions, peppers, and other spices.
then she would dust them lightly with flour and brown them in the oven.
they were simply delicious.. i haven't had any for a while now due to blood pressure problems.

There's a lot of immigrants from the West Indies in my part of Montreal and I can vouch that PrimitiveGenius's story is true. The REAL way to eat that is to supposedly let it sit in a bucket overnight till it congeals.
I've personally never eaten it, but I'd probably like it. -

Uh, they're pig tails. You know, curly things on the back of critters that go "oink".
My grandmother used to cook them in a big pot with pole beans, carrots, potatoes, cabbage and turnips. The saltiness of the pig tails seasoned the vegetables and it made for some heavy-duty comfort food.
I can't seem to find them anywhere though. I tried asking the girl at the butcher counter of the local supermarket and she looked at me as if I was nuts. -

by DaCheech ini just saw the mail.
when i saw a bill from the satellite tv company i could not refrain from opening it.. seems like the congregation is flipping the $88 a month for the c.o.
to watch tv.. the billing was not personalized to the co, but to the congregation.

The rockies are awe-inspiring (though I've never been), British Columbia has beautiful rainforests, Montreal has great culture, food and nightlife, the Maritimes have beautiful scenery and great seafood, there's great camping in Northern Ontario and awesome fishing and aurora borealis (Northern lights) in the Northwest Territories.
I'd just avoid the Prairies, I spent two years out there and only the locals seem to like it. -

I remember when my family visited bethel we got to stay in the regular bethelite apartments in Brooklyn and the TVs there got cable.
I remember thinking how funny it was that I was watching a very violent old Charles Bronson movie at Bethel, of all places. -
