Parody of Song 113: "We're No Longer Witnesses!"
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land inbeing in "the truth" forever, i keep (frustratingly) finding myself humming kingdom songs unintentionally.
it frustrates me when i find myself doing it!.
so today i got this song in my head, and couldn't get it unstuck, so i decided to write alternate lyrics to it... when i get that tune in my head now, i'll have words that work!

That is great! Good job! Yes, a whole collection of these would be great to have in parody form. It's hard for many of us who were raised in the org or who have been in the org for a long time to get this crap out of our heads.
It would be refreshing to have such theocratically corrected songs. :) :) :)
Thank you. -

Favourite foreign languages?
by greendawn inwhat foreign language or languages do you enjoy most listening to, though you may not be able to understand the words?
i find several foreign languages pleasant to listen to, french with its refinement, italian with its sing song musical quality, and german with its coarse but resolute intonation.
i also like the sound of russian and castillian spanish.

The Society is becoming more and more aware of the branch off groups and offshoots of reformed JW groups (including one I and a group operate). They don't want their sheep to see these, or at least they want them to be warned about these "apostate" and "independent thinking" groups before the sheep see too much.
Most average JW's aren't aware that the JW's are not as united as WT would like them to think. There are several split off groups in existence and while the WT would like to have their sheep think the groups dwindle away or are not "doing the witness work", they're wrong most of the time.
More and more groups are splitting away from the WT each year. Some remaining quiet while others try to make a bit splash. They were totally embarrassed about the whole "True Faith Jehovah's Witnesses Association" in Romania a few years ago. Just goes to show you what happens when the children are no longer drinking the milk of the mother organization. Sighhhhh. -

Jehovahs or Yawehs name ,JW's got it right?
by wozadummy inok i'll admit i just posted this to get rid of obve topic being stuck on the first page....but while i'm here i have'nt seen an explanation given here for whether the jw's are correct in putting gods name back into the old testament.. i just thought some here could voice their opinions on this for the benefit of new ones reading topics on this site.. as for me ,it does puzzle me as to why all versions of the old testament don't have it in all 6000 odd places ,seems to me people here could be seen as ignoring the hard questions if good reasons are'nt given to oppose the standard jw stand ,if indeed that needs to be done?

The following is from the book Expose of Jehovah's Witnesses found here: http://www.blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/ which is a great resource imho
Is the name "Jehovah" actually the name of God?
* 8A. Does the Society believe that "Jehovah" is the name of God?
Yes. They have used it for more than 50 years and state categorically that it is "a translation of God's name, in Hebrew YHWH."
Make Sure of All Things, 1953, p.188 * 8B. God's name?
No. They hold that "there is no such name as Jehovah." The name of God as it appears in Scripture is without appropriate vowels so, "no Hebrew can pronounce it today."
Letter, Michael Esses * 8C. Where did the mistranslation "Jehovah" come from?
"'Jehovah' is generally held to have been the invention of Pope Leo X's confessor, Peter Galatin."
The Jewish Encyclopedia, p. 88
"'Jehovah' is a mispronunciation... almost entirely disregarded by the Jews ... of the Hebrew 'YHWH' the... name of God... this pronunciation is grammatically impossible; it arose through pronouncing the vowels...of 'Adonay' (the Lord) ...with the consonants of ' YHWH. "
The Jewish Encyclopedia, p. 87 * 8D. Is there any basis for the Society using "Jehovah" as the name for God?
No. "The pronunciation Jehovah has no authority at all and appeared only in late medieval times; it is an attempt to vocalize the Tetragrammaton (YHWH) usinq the vowels written under it by the scribes, which vowels however were never intended to be combined with the four consonants of this word."
Grant and Rowley, Dictionary of the Bible, p. 334 * 8E. If "Jehovah" is incorrect and not the name of God, what is the correct name?
It is Yahweh. "That the pronunciation in ancient times was Yahweh is concluded from transcriptions in the early Christian fathers."
Grant and Rowley, Dictionary of the Bible, p. 334
