it sounds like science fiction but it's true: a killer amoeba living in lakes enters the body through the nose and attacks the brain where it feeds until you die.

even though encounters with the microscopic bug are extraordinarily rare, it's killed six boys and young men this year.

The 2 Texas death occurred after swimming in stagnant waters (cove areas) of Lake LBJ, 50 miles west of Austin. This enters the system by ingesting water via nose/mouth or through open wounds.This has been such a scary time for us who live around Lake LBJ. The coves have this nasty green slime growing everywhere. There is no help from the LCRA which manages the lakes in TX, I guess these young men (12 Austin & 22 Lubbock) losing their lives was not reason enough to pay for clean-up.

On a more interesting note. The LCRA answers to no government authority.....not even the Gov Perry (Lake LBJ so-to-be resident)

Sorry for mini rant, I live on the Lake LBJ (open water...so we are safe but frustrated)

Read your Bible. Research interlinears (multiple-avoid Wescott-Hort due to gross spiritism) to help with accurate understanding.

Take in the full meaning/context of any scriptures quoted in pubs, fact check secular quotes found in pubs. Are they being applied correctly or using snipets to support current teachings?

Breathe.

If you have been baptized in or after 1985 ask yourself if the Bible speaks favorable of serving 2 masters?Ask yourself if you truly believe that an organization is above the lures of Satan? Did Satan try to lure Jesus into temptation? Could you accept that an organization's leaders can choose to stop following Jah or to put material gain above true worship? Is your spiritual relationship to God and his Son based love, knowledge, familiarity, and devotion or that of rituals? Are you currently "drawn close to Jah" are you currently "following the Christ"?

Yes Gene Smalley did away with it in the May 1, 2007 QFR, it is also reinforce in the August 15, 2007 Watchtower.

help here in naming all the job positions and careers that dubs are not allowed to have and the scriptural reason for it.

Does The Watchtower Society encourage Home Schooling?

with their discouragement of higher education, you would think the wts would encourge parents to.

remove their children from the public education system altogether.

I live in an area with a very high percentage of homeschoolers(k-8th). Most agree that high schoolers needs to be with a daily peer group for optimal socialization. I do private (Pre-Pre K) and homeschool (3rd/4th). I am currently following a classical approach to the bascis and "local" science (Ag extention program), LOVE IT! My daughter is usually finished with the basics within an hour or two(with breaks). The rest of the day is spent exploring local species, lake activites, park parties (playgroup), "homeschoolers united" field trips (at least 50-100 kids!), art classes, crafts, dance, choir, community theatre, volunteering, occasionally assisting with little bro's class and playing in the backyard with the pups. We do whatever feels right! No FS as we are still banned (such a pity...lol)

That said every year I check the ISD for current curriculums. Seems like all the public schools in my region are in the process or have completely converted to C-Scope which is very TEKS/TAKS orientated (nothing like teaching(((aachhoooo cheating))) to the test vs broad learning).

As for the local JWs, there is only 1SAHM other then me, all the rest have to work. She wings her school program as we are only required to teach 5 subjects (Reading, Writing, Spelling, Arithmetic, and "good citizenship"). I know of some JWs who chose to enroll in the New System School.

I am not sure of the public schools in your area but mine has statutes in the student hand book that are taken from our states penal code. School is meant for learning not for preparing kids for the prison system, this caused the mass homeshooling movement. Local private schools only cover (pre-pre K-2nd) and we have a "university model" school for 3rd-12th (MWF and TTH) but it relies heavily on homeschooling (Abeka and Bob Jones).

here is something i thought was a bit weird.. tonights local needs was about depression.

not so much in how we can help those with depression, but about getting over it.. the brother used the scriptures about elijah and the widow to show who was relying on jehovah.. he mentioned how the widow was obviously depressed.

then showed how she should have been like elijah.. as i sat there and listened, i realized his underlying message:.

Really, because if you counted all the pills the sisters are taking in my congo for depression you could start a pharmacy (I think Viagra for their husbands would work far better). Depression has been rampant for years (husbands to busy with "assignments")some even visiting their Aunt Sally Humphries (code word for State Hospital). You would think the Borg would be more encouraging of popping a happy pill and getting your depressed butts back in FS.

sloppy handwriting, an untucked shirttail, a bad grade all were signs of a personal flaw that needed to be confessed, corrected and often punished.. now, as president of the fundamentalist church of jesus christ of latter day saints, the scope of his dominion has grown from 300 students in the salt lake valley to 10,000 people on the arizona strip.. flds.

Yea found GUILTY! Of course now is sentencing and establishing the correction facility.

Once in, lurkers for the WTBS will make use of Changeling's idea and get him into a Bible study group. He will reject, repent, and convert. He will send messages to his underlings to allocate all property to the WTBS and that all must accept "studies" and convert as soon as possible. The compounds will be praised for their efficiency and their devout christian attitudes. All witness we be encouraged to join these and others that the Society will be setting up thanks to generous land donations by the brothers. There the WTBS will encourage members to learn trades that sustain the compounds while giving the WTBS something to earn a profit. After all the door to the ark is closing and the need to gather together is greater then ever! Those who remain outside of the compounds must be employable in fields of diversity (so as to present an upwardly mobile mainstream view of the Society), have no children and earn more then the median income (donating 3/4 of their salaries). These will live in WTBS apartments around the world. They will be specially trained to preach the good news, since this is expected outside of a full time job, centers will be established where full time converter will be available to ensure proper knowledge for soon to be new members. Baptisms will take place daily. Praises Be for how much the future Bro Jeffs' contributions to the truth.

Being a Witness is no longer special.

Like I said since Freddie (Franzkruger) withdrew his influence, there has been the blandest regurgitation of the past. I guess he took his Millerite books with him. Not that I am truly complaining, he had no qualms about using "demon" books for research and direction. But with the use of them he represented the only link to the HeyDay of the movement (thank you Mouw). In general as time marches on it is getting harder and harder to preach/sell a religious trend from the 19 Century.
