i just received an email from a friend with pictures of what seems to be a wt-approved or wt-connected used car business.. this friend is telling us that the cars being sold are those previously used by circuit overseers.

I have often referred this site to Pioneers in my congregation on the look out for a "newer" model car for service.
Never fails they are shocked! Some have written and asked for reduced prices, but only receive like $500 less quote. And the kicker is they know that the cars were bought with their donations, for Kingdom Interest. Most feel that the cars should be donated to local congregations for FS or the needy.

Just for clarification: I am not a Jehovah's Witness nor have I ever been a Jehovah's Witness. I am a graduate student in religion and find the Witnesses of great interest and particularly the recent re-interpretation of the 1914 generation teaching.

Hey we are not lost, we are "special"
Those of us in our 30's experienced a time of "deeper" examination, some of us during our most formative years, questioning was not wrong, it was encouraged! "Test all things" was my first congregations motto after 1975.
For most of us our parents would have read to us the peach book, I think it was "Paradise Lost", then we were spoon fed "My book of Bible Stories". Depending on congregation, we either saw disgust at blaming the R&F brothers for 1975, or those who hit a new depression. Either way, this changed the dynamics of our congregations. The post 1975 world was like a time not seen since 1925. There were open questions and rebuttals. Calls for answers.
I remember a Sister speaking about the "great disappointment". She said that 1975 would have profound effects on us, rather we wanted them or not. That we would never view the world with such blind embrace.
Many seeds of doubt were sown in the 70's, now seems to be the season for them to bloom.

Most HLC are lawyers, this can be remedied by adding one doctor to the committee.
If you baptized after June 1985, the answer is NO, your baptizm was an agreement of membership into the Organization. They only have to state in court that the HLC is there to reimind the patient (victim) of membership beliefs.
That is what the WTBS has become all about: Legal Protection of the Greater Organization.

talking to a friend (ex-elder) today whose wife was (is) a close friend of mine .
she's still a jdub but won't talk to me now i'm df'd (apparently it hit her very hard when we left) and so she busied herself with ministry and meetings in search of comfort and affirmation of her faith.
this didn't work for her and she came out with an unexpected question... .
I think Megsmomma and Sacchiel have the most honest answer regarding the upbuilding of knowledge.
But I believe her question was about fellowship. We are social creatures. I want my children to be around other children with parents of similar beliefs. We all know there are not many other religions that hold the doctrines of no, trinity, immortality of soul, hell, Jesus pre-human existance, save the Bible Students, but they are not local to many and the Pyramidology thing is really 19th-century passe (along with invisible parousias). So in that sense "where do we go" is a great question!
One that I don't have the answer to but am searching for.
I think we want a JW like-religion that is simple, perhaps primative and solely based on the bible, with room for reasonable disagreement of interpretation. That had youth programs like we see in other denominations like, kids bible study(I attended a kids bible study/tms back in 1976-1981) , choir, drama, a playground, scheduled playdates by age, cool stuff that encouraged a "Godly Focus", Putt-putt golfing tournaments...................................................................Yea I know ..NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!

there have been a number of posts discussing reform in the watchtower, mostly revolving around a letter on this thread.
i just wanted to put my two cents in on this issue.
because i am not attached to any of the main doctrines and teachings of the jws, i feel no personal need to reform them.
Let the Watchtower fall to the ground as in the days of Jericho
Because with the UN she as acted as a Ho'
Long gone are the Watchmans, seeking to protect and proclaim
Replace by prison guards, Guardtowers are all that they remain
But keep those safe, those held captive behind it's tower walls
They have been blinded with the GB's lies, promises and stalls
Many are honest hearted and came to serve Jehovah God
Not realizing that by the GB they would be rode roughshod.
Let the Light of Christ shine upon there newly opened eye
Let them shout Joyful cries
