sorry for being so self indulgent...i've been meaning to post this but had reached my limit, so i put it in another thread.. this still upsets me.
i don't know why it should...perhaps because i am, as my ex-husband stated, self-absorbed and childish.. but as part of my therapy, i present to you..... the car.
i don't drive and never have.
Beryl,
This makes me so mad. You did something out of the goodness of your heart and got stabbed in the back for it. Did the elder have his head up his ass to suggest you give your car to a family that certainly didn't need it? And then they turn around and sell the car.........????
I know the sensible thing is to chalk it up to experience and move on, but geez, it sure is aggravating.

i've been off-line for a bit, broken what-not in the computer, just got back on so i thought i'd tell you what happened yesterday.elder d rang to ask if 'we' could visit, ok says i, the other is the old ms who i studied with.
meantime i'd got my file on un/wts ready(it's been ready for ages) and primed husband to witness the entertainment.this went on for about an hour and a half.i was utterly in control of myself and the entire interrogation(me of them).neither of them would look at any of my evidence of the wt's blasphemous hypocrisy, so i read it out to them,(you come to my house so i'm going to tell you this) they tried to wriggle their way out but i wanted them to admit their weakness.
i really let them have it.they parried i thrusted.
Meatpie,
Congratulations on a job well done. You really gave them something to chew on!

i have no argument left in me, and no desire to fight really.
when i was inactive i used to look at ex-jws with placard boards outside assemblies or conventions, i knew these people existed even if they were a bit "wacky".
i always used to wonder why these people did this, and to be honest i didn't like them, they looked creepy stood there with their flip charts outside a stadium.
Dear ScoobySnax,
I remember an assembly in Grantville, Pa. a number of years ago, when an "Apostate" infiltrated the auditorium in meeting clothes and carrying a brief case. He shouted from the back of the hall, "Brothers and Sisters, you've been lied to." He didn't get any further, as 3 or 4 attendents jumped on him and hustled him out the door. I remember my feelings; fear that something "bad" would happen, having been made so paranoid about persecution, relief at the big strong men who protected us and kept the congregation clean, and finally puzzlement. Why would anyone who didn't agree with the witnesses do this? What had we done to make people so bitter? If someone disagreed why not just walk away? After all, only murders, adulterers and fornicators were ever disfellowshipped. Right?
Fast forward to August/September 2001. I was first learning the truth about the "truth." And I mean no disrespect for all the lost souls at 9/11, but the UN scandal sent me reeling far more than any national tragedy. I was a zombie for a week or more. This after six years spend living in guilt and fear that I had turned my back on Jehovah and brought shame to the organization for not living up to my dedication. After that awakening, I understand the need to tell others what lies beneath the mask of the WTBS.
I guess what I'm trying to say, Scooby, is what every one else had told you--learn the truth about the truth. Educate yourself, free yourself from the chains of remorse and guilt.

some of you may be familiar with the international churches of christ , a breakoff cult from the churches of christ years ago.
control, control, control.
i myself have exit-counseled a few kids from this church successfully.
This entire article is truly amazing, there's just so much to read, but oh, what a parallel to Watchtower doctrine. WTBS could easily be inserted in place of ICOC.
1.We have had well over a quarter million men and women leave our churches. Many have fallen away, of course. Perhaps, the majority. But tens of thousands have walked away with their God. We simply do not admit this. We have insisted, thoughtlessly and to the continuing hurt and dismay of many, that anyone who leaves our ranks, for whatever the reason, have fallen away from God. This just cannot be, and in truth, borders on the immoral. We know, even if we will not admit it publicly, that we ourselves have mistakenly ‘pruned’ hundreds away! No, not all have left their God –they simply left our fellowship to make it on their own. Let us admit the truth-thousands were marginalized, rebuked, misunderstood, wearied, or forced to follow their consciences out the door. Others, scattered by harsh and brutal leadership (Ez34)
2.Related to this, but hardly the only reason, there is now an entire sub-culture of enemies and critics that simply will not go away until we publicly admit and apologize for our mistakes and sins. (Now who does this sound like?)

Hawkaw,
Thank you for getting me to re-read this post several times to get the full importance of it. I especially like:
The Watchtower Society had argued the church couldn’t be held responsible for a failure to protect children from a parent’s abuse. The society also argued that allowing the suit to proceed would violate the constitutional protection of freedom of worship.
Groff disagreed, finding that religious beliefs don’t excuse people from obeying state laws, including the law requiring people to report suspected child abuse.
These are the hypocrites always talking about obeying Ceaser's law. What a crock of sh*t.
