Did you ever 'Turn Someone In' to the elders? Do you regret it now?
by AK - Jeff ini am not proud of that, for i know the pain i caused someone as i look back.. i turned in 4 people for 'gross sins' over my tenure as a jw.
i wish i could take it back now.
were these people guilty of 'sin' as defined by the wts?

I never turned anyone in, but I did ask an elder to help a sister who called me one day, crying her eyes out because she was depressed, and her husband didn't seem to care about her, etc., etc., etc. She called me because I was at that time, a MS's wife. So I approached this elder who was sent to our cong. and he seemed like someone who was good at counseling people....and as time went by, they ended up having an affair, both got Df'd. and were divorced. So in their DF'd state, they got married, time went by, and they were reinstated and about 21/2 years after their marriage, they got divorced.
She is still single and I don't know where he is--he left the cong.
What a waste of everything.......

Did you use to believe that all the annoited ones contributed information
by troubled mind inwhen i was little there were several elderly ones in our hall that were of the annointed class .
i was lead to believe that they sent in surveys of a sort to the society regularly.
about their opinoins on theocratic matters .i was told that they ,all the annointed, contributed material to the magazines .

I did growing up and it wasn't until I was way into my late 20's that I found out it wasn't true. Very disappointed I was, because I wondered what the point was of being of the anointed if you couldn't educate the other sheep with your wisdom.

Did Being One Of Jehovahs Witnesses Kill Your Drive?
by The wanderer in<!-- .style1 { font-family: arial; font-size: 18px; } .style2 { font-family: arial; font-size: 16px; color: #000066; } .style3 { font-family: verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; } .style4 {color: #ff0000} .style5 {color: #000066} --> did being one of jehovahs witnesses kill your drive?
it is understandable how someone who has been a jehovahs witness .
for a number of years could become complacent and except their lot in life.

Not kill my drive but maybe suppressed it somewhat until an elder's wife (many years ago) told me about someone she knew who was depressed a lot, and she went to a doctor (don't know if it was an MD or Psych) but she was told she needed to do something creative--so she started painting and her depression went away. So I started wondering if that was why I would get depressed sometimes---because I needed to do something creative--which I did and I felt much better. Also I have found a vocation which I love--just sorry I didn't discover it earlier in life.
This is part of self-discovery...to realize that we are here to contribute something that matters to humanity/the world to make it better. It could be in the arts, (including medical arts), or whatever it is that makes us happy. Certainly being told "NO!" at the doors all the time could make one feel horrible--and I'm sure our Creator didn't intend that.

Apocryphal Books
by Black Man ini've been starting to read the apocryphal books (just for the heck of it and pure academia), you know, those books that were deemed unsuitable to be considered as part of the bible canon by the religous bureaucrats back in 317 c.e.
at the council of nicea (constantinople).
i think the bible and the apocryphal books are probably a bunch of crap, but can someone school me on them?

New date for Armegeddon???
by DawnLS620 ini must have missed this on my travels thru different x-dub sites, but i think i read something on here about their "new light" regarding the timing for armegeddon.
since its been over 30 years since 1975, how do they predict armegeddon now?
what do they tell new converts regarding the 1975 debacle?

2034 is the strongest date the WTBTS has "hinted at" Noah like work , 120 years ; 1914 +120 years = 2034
When I first saw this, my immediate thought was I'll be dead by then; but it turns out, if I have the health my mom did, at the age I will be then, it'll be an old lady with bad knees.

Intelligence of Witness Material
by choosing life inwhen i started attending the meetings, i was in college.
i would use any excuse i could to get out of the watchtower study.
i couldn't believe they wanted me to read the article at home and underline the answers and then i had to sit and listen to them read it aloud again and give the same exact answers they underlined in the magazine.

As far as the dumbing down effect, yes I noticed that years ago too. But this is not just happening among JWs.....there is a dumbing down of America as well.
