  when i started attending the meetings, i was in college.

  i would use any excuse i could to get out of the watchtower study.

  i couldn't believe they wanted me to read the article at home and underline the answers and then i had to sit and listen to them read it aloud again and give the same exact answers they underlined in the magazine.

  When I started attending the meetings, I was in college. I would use any excuse I could to get out of the Watchtower study. I couldn't believe they wanted me to read the article at home and underline the answers and then I had to sit and listen to them read it aloud again and give the same exact answers they underlined in the magazine. I felt like I was in kindergarden again.

  This is one of the things I started observing in my children when they were younger. Once they learn something, they got it and so they were very bored at the WT study on Sundays if whe studied it as a family the night before. In fact it was torture for them--I could see it in their faces.

  I cry for the Babys, the Young, and the Fools, who make war.

  what will it take for these fools to see the suffering they cause?

  they should put them in a prison, and show them slides of all the babys, the children, that have been blown to bit by their foolishness, until they finally get it.

  a lady friend living at my condo asked me the same question today and i had to really think hard.

  what would be the one thing that would definitively change everything?!

  Go back to when I was 14/15 and mostly know what I know now, and continue with the boyfriend I had then. We would have gotten married. He was a baptized witness as well as I, but looking back in retrospect, he wouldn't have been for long because good sense would overtake him. After we broke up and years later, he joined the Navy was was duly DA'd and he didn't even know it.

  A girl in my Yoga class started taking the products and she felt much better, and is now selling them. She gave me a newsletter to read all about the company, etc. But I recognized it as a sophisticated form of MLM. Anyway, if I had bad health problems, maybe I would consider using them. But OTOH, I get a lot of good information from a book called Back To Eden by Jethro Kloss, who was an herbalist way back in the early 1900's. It's a great book and I refer to it a lot.

  Audience participation during public talks

  we hear so much about the boring talks.. several years ago an attempt was made to liven things up a bit by randomly choosing people before the public talk, handing them a slip of paper with a question on it, and asking if they would like to answer the question when called upon during the talk.

  that must have been 20+ years ago.

  anybody know why that practice was discontinued?.

  I remember the year I regular pioneered, we had a CO who made us laugh a lot. He was fun to be with and I remember one time when I was pulling into the parking lot of the KH for a meeting, and he was outside, recognized my car and exaggerated getting out of my way so he wouldn't get hit. Just the mental picture of him running from my car still makes me smile.

  His talks were always good and you could tell he put a lot of his own thinking into them.

  I also recall the time that audience participation was done with the public talks.

  Also there was an elder from another congregation who was invited to give talks at our hall from time to time. He was an amateur astromonist and always brought visual aids. There was one which had a picture of the Milky Way Galaxy and he pointed out where Earth was in relationship to the galaxy. It was stunning! And then, after the talk (he didn't stay for the WT study) my husband told me that one of the elders from my cong. took this brother aside and counseled him for not sticking to the outline!

  you find yourself with a couple of hours to yourself - what do you to relax and make yourself feel good without imbibing substances?

  Playing a game on the computer; listen to the Soundscapes channel on cable (this is especially relaxing when I can't sleep); watch a movie.

  during later years i became more and more interested in the ancient history of mankind and the written stories from all over the world including the myths, legends and sages.

  during this study it became very clear that the stories in the bible were not unique, and had been told of and written about everywhere around the ancient world.. when looking for evidence i began to read the history of mesopotamia, assyria, egypt and other regions and soon found out what i had already presumed.. because of this new evidence i started reading the bible again, only now as an historical book.

  During later years I became more and more interested in the Ancient History of Mankind and the written stories from all over the World including the Myths, Legends and Sages. During this study it became very clear that the stories in the Bible were not unique, and had been told of and written about everywhere around the Ancient World.

  When looking for evidence I began to read the history of Mesopotamia, Assyria, Egypt and other regions and soon found out what I had already presumed.

  Because of this new evidence I started reading the Bible again, only now as an historical book. It soon became clear that the modern Christian Bible and Jewish Torah (that makes up the first five books of the Old Testament) merely gives us a 'colored' or watered down history of the Hebrew and Jewish people, and are only fragments of the total history of the Middle East. So the Bible became for me a very useful historical book written by several ancient writers that had been rewritten much later after the captivity of the Jews in Babylon by the Prophet Daniel in the 6th century BCE.

  At that time, the Torah consisted of stories that had been composed for the most part from older stories that had been written on clay tablets and papyri from Mesopotamia, Assyria and Egypt, including names and places, and in most cases these stories were thousands of years older.

  The final Torah and later the final Christian Bible were arbitrarily composed and differ within different sects of Judaism and Christianity itself. While several original Canonical Bible books were later set apart as Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha books in the 2nd century AD is for me still a question that never has been answered to my satisfaction

  Perhaps Mr. Geerts may fill in a lot of the gaps of ancient history, at least for me.

  Lots of witnesses think they are studying the Bible when they study Watchtower publications me included when I associated, until I started reading the cited scriptures in context and saw they were misusing the scriptures.

  Do you still pray/talk to yourself like you used to?or wish very hard?

  i find that i still have an internal dialogue - a bit like i used to when i walked around talking to god like my life depended on it trying to cultivate that elusive relationship with him.

  i like to call it internal dialogue because otherwise they could bring in the mental health professionals...don't ask me who "they" are - do i look/act/sound paranoid?!

  so before "they" take me away: do you still find you talk to yourself in your head when you see things of especial beauty that might previously have inspired a prayer of thanks (and maybe still do - don't worry i am over with the castigation of the religious, for now!)?

  I'm like Restrangled who talks for his dogs except I talk for my cats...and we have some pretty good conversations!

  I've always had an internal dialogue in my head, though, and I think imaginative, creative people do that. I've been told that my imagination is way out there sometimes.

  Which WT doctrines or belief is correct???

  considering that most if not all of the wt beliefs are bs......................do you think any of them are right?.

  i myself dont believe in hell fire, but foreverything else, the trinity imortality of the soul, the great apostacy or armageddon im still not 100 % sure.

  so which ones do you think the wt are spot on with ?.
