Doctrine of Suppression - I sincerely want to know this...

watching the video of the street preacher at the district convention got me thinking (always a dangerous proposition).

there seems to be this history revolving around christianity.

starting with the romans, the idea began to be, convert through suppression, oppression, war and acts of violence.

I'm with you Gretchen, I don't get it either.

There is no reality, only perception.

Some people will believe that they need religion to find God.

Many can find God without religion.

Then there are those who don't need God, or have found God to be within.

Either way, may whatever path the reader chose in life bring them peace, and make them a better person.

If their Christian religion makes the reader a nasty, judgemental person, then maybe the reader should take a look at why they are letting their Christian religion mold their personality and their behavior towards their fellow humans.

Bunkum. Unadulterated bunkum. That's my first reaction. There are so many trigger words, hyperbole and assumptions in these few paragraphs.
Trigger words
- designed to make the reader react. Instead of think.
Hyperbole - make the sentence sound more dramatic than it's plain meaning.
Assumptions - back them up with facts after you state them!

Now, let's look at the assumptions:
1. Growth, consumption, consumerism, and the pursuit of wealth is bad.
Why?
2. Growth, consumption, consumerism, and the pursuit of wealth interferes healing and the sharing of collective truth.
What does one have to do with the other? Can't I heal and share in spite of consumerism?
3. To pursue our own interests is a fundamental freedom, and must be protected.
Why? 4. Our power has been taken from us by the pursuit of growth, consumption, consumerism, and the pursuit of wealth.
What power? The power to speak? That hasn't been taken away. . The power to change? How has consumerism taken that away from me? 5. Our world is not right.
Our world is plenty right, with a few things wrong. Prove me wrong.
Why do I have the feeling that the author is going to advocate some sort of radical action, such as boycotting certain corporations, lobbying for new legislation, or, heaven forbid, askfor a donation to the "cause"?

radical as a huge protest rallies, spray painting the large corporations with red paint, kidnapping the CEO's to get people to listen????.

( a day ago) - so a couple of witnesses were talking and i heard one mention that he was on the "security" group of dubs for his convention.

they all had to meet early to discuss the barrage of "evil slave" class coming in and handing out cards with apostate information and also to watchover the restrooms, cause the "evil slave" likes to put flyers and stuff in there as well.

there was mentioning of how they would handle those ones.... just a note of encouragement, i guess, but it seems as if you ex-dubs that try and release the other actives, definitely are having an impact in some ways.. .

It always amused me how some dubs took the security and parking attendant jobs at conventions sooo seriously! Like they are playing cops and robbers or Mission Imposible or something. I guess they have to get their jolies somewhere.

of course i'm talking about death.

i know in the borg, since most people are cheap, or don't have money, there was always a push for cremation.

i know my grandmother was cremated, as well as my father in law, and i think the issue was more for finances.

eye contact - if she averts your eyes, that's not a good sign

twirling hair, yes, its a cliche, but it actually is true, if shes playing with her hair, she is actually thinking of ...

if she touches you, even once, that's a good sign, she would not touch you if she didn't like you.

if she doesn't, that could just mean she's shy or conservative.

distance away from you, is not a good sign

body language is a huge thing to pay attention to

open arms, upturned hands, smile, relaxed eye contact,

if she looks into your eyes, and tells you that she likes you,. that's pretty much a green light

It is NOT a sin.

Shawn was absolutely correct. It's sad when couples get hung up on masturbation as if it is somehow ''cheating''. It isn't. It should be respected by both partners. It does not replace the great sex you and her share. It is merely an easy, fast, convenient release, and that is NORMAL.

Imagine if you expected your wife to fufill your every single desire? She would probably start to feel used, and physically tired.. So it's better that you are self reliant and independent enough to take care of your own needs. She probably goes it on her own too, just doesn't tell you about it.

Once your relationship matures over time, you will probably both feel comfortable enough to share with one another that you each masturbate on your own...and it's cool with both of you.

At The Peak Of Your JW Spirituality, Did You Ever Not Believe Something ?

at your most "spiritual", did you believe everything that was taught----even if you didn't quite understand it all?

I always felt like we were worshipping men and God at the same time.

I didn't believe that God would murder innocent children at Armegeddon, and would cringe, and shake my head in disagreement at the meeing. I didn't care who saw me.

I would cry at the stupid Watchtower study, feeling like I was never doing enough service.

I didn't think that putting in hours was at all what Jesus wanted. I stopped putting my actual service time from 1998. I believed that my service was to God, so God knew how many hours I put in for Him, I detested that men needed to know how much time I was putting in when I was in service for Jehober, and not for them. Yes, I was that delusional.

I paid little attention to the Daniel book. I hated the stupid dates. I thought they were a waste of time and brain energy.

I hated the disfellowshipping policy, I would smile kindly and sadly at the brother who was DF'd who sat at the back by himself, who was at every meeting. I wanted him to know that although I wasn't allowed to talk to him, I wasn't going to ignore him.

The revelation book was an embarrasment, I found it very hard to swallow when I was a teen, I loved the Draw Close to God book.

I thought the Young People Ask Book, and the articles in the Awake were a joke. I found them very unrealistic and extremely irritating and embarassing.

Has anything changed with JW's?

there seems to be now a lot of reports of jw's actually speaking to those of us who have left.

even to df'd and da'd ones.

i had a mail today from da'd jw saying he was in pc world when he saw a jw from his old congregation one who had ignored him times before.

Maybe it's the just UK JW's, maybe they have a more loving and forgiving attitude...new local needs parts?

Seems like the coldest JW's are in the US/Canada....just an observation/perception from different posts I have read, not stating a fact.
