  What if she hadn't eaten the fruit?

  based solely on whats available in the genesis account, what would happen if eve had not eaten the fruit but had continued a relationship with the "serpent" in perpetuity questioning god's motives?

  would she be punished for this exercise of free will?.

  i ask the question because my personal belief is that if the genesis account is in fact allegory, then what comes after it should be awarded no more acknowledged efficacy that what we prescribe to aesop, confucius or any other pragmatic, non-theistic value-set that has survived history .

  Sorry for getting my back up like that.

  I do not believe in hell fire...just because I read the book of Enoch, does not mean I believe it to be true....I just found it interesting because it gave personalities to the fallen angels. It proves that the arch angel Michael, is just that, an arch angel. I found the account and the story interesting...that's all.

  I am afraid of dying. I have no idea what death has in store, I suspect that it is just oblivion. I was raised with the same beliefs as you. I was raised a witness from birth. My whole childhood was molded and sculpted as a witness. When I was thinking (which was all the freakin' time) I was thinking in scriptures. I had dozens of scriptures memorized...I'm not bragging about that, just stating where my mind was at as a child....I was very spiritually minded. I was very scripturally minded. I was very Jehovah minded. So something drastic had to have happened to change the way I think and view things.

  Now I try to have an open mind about things. I have learned enough (but I need to learn more) about hisotry that it has made me question everything I was ever taught.

  I question the authenticity of the Bible, the realness of God, the divinity of Jesus. That's why I started my sentence of my theory with: ''If I did believe in the Genesis account...''

  For now, I believe it is just allegory. It is just a story.

  I cannot believe that with everything you can read on here, that you still hang on to being a JW. But to each their own ignorance. I have my own ignorances that I need to correct...I still have so much to learn.

  13-yr old girl writes: example of Witnesses lying

  i get emails like this all the time.

  some jw gets upset at the stuff on my site, and wanting to add more weight/shock value to what they say, they either mention in passing that they are "not one of jehovah's witnesses" or are a child.

  this one claims to be a 13-yr old girl!

  I am inclined to believe it might be a 13 yr old girl, albeit, a really stupid, uneducated brainwashed one. but, it could easily be any JW.

  she is a jw, who does not believe in celebrating birthdays and singing this song.. "razzoo's settles lawsuit over religious firing.".

  i was happy when i read the other thread about some stupid jw dying from child birth , b/c of blood.

  johnny, when you state things like this,

  you make yourself equal to the JW's who say they are happy about Armegeddon coming to destroy all the non-JW people.

  You have a right to your feelings, but saying you are glad because a JW mother lost her life is just sick.

  What Is Your View Toward Religions & "Religious" People?

  my take on religions in general is that they all either give hope or some type of contentment for the person who takes their religion seriously.

  if they're good, they go to heaven or to some better condition.

  some religions are more radical than others and these types, i stay away from.. regarding those that are very religious, i'm generalizing here, but i think most of them are extremists in one way or another.

  this is an honest plea for justice to you, if you have access to the secret database files which are being kept hidden by the governing body of jehovah's witnesses, would you please , in the name of true justice, please come forward and release those files to the news media.

  there are plenty of child molestation victims crying out for consolation in their lives and getting none whatsoever.

  in all the years that you were an active jw did: 1. going out in the ministry when you were down or felt depressed every make you forget your problems and cause you to feel better?

  2. going to meetings when you had to rush around and practically yell and scream at your husband/wife/kids to get there ever cause you to feel better that you went instead of staying home to relax?

  these are the top two elder solutions to jw problems.

  Sometimes, to be honest, but it was more the coffee breaks, and the joking and the talking with others that helped.

  Plaving mags was a stupid competition within the car group usually...service was only fun when it was nice out, I DETESTED going in service in cold/rainy weather...but when it was hot and sunny I would be wishing I was at the amusment park / waterpark instead!

  Hell no. Getting yelled at, or yelling to get the other family members to get going never made me feel good. It just made me angry.

  i went to a 2 day assembly with 4 teeth pulled the day before.

  my gums were bleeding all day but i still went to the assembly .there was a brother who was in a bad car accident the week before with his daughter in a coma.

  Hymn of the Naasenes / Ophite poem

  good morning everyone,.

  since we were talking about gnosticism a bit last night i decided to post one of the only remaining ophite texts, 'the hymn of the naasenes'.. basic info: the ophites/naasenes were a gnostic sect that worshipped the serpent as the bringer of gnosis/knowledge to adam and eve by suggesting to take the fruit.

  as in all gnosticism jehovah/yahweh/yaldabaoth/saklas(fool) /samael (blind god) is the evil demiurge of this world, the bad guy of the story.. this particular hymn deals with the fallen aeon sophia/wisdom.
