Youre replies have been very encouraging thank you. I am still very confused but I am I think the sort of person that need God and a hope. I really dislike the religion, but love the creator of all the beauty in the world, I find that having to pray for forgivness all the time turns me of, it makes me feel bad not good, and this is what the WTS has done, it focuses on how bad we are and how much we need to be better nothing seems good enough, I just want to be able to go to a meeting and be able to relax and bring up things and talk and feel, everything is so programed and organized nothing is family like or relaxed. I don't feel like I belong there, I feel like I get dressed up and walk in like a parade, maybe it is me, but I just dont feel like I am like them.

Fresia...my story
by fresia inhello all, i must say it is really very hard for me to know where to start.
but i guess a little bit of background before i became a jw may have to be said.
i came from a disfunctional family and at the age of 3 was sent to homes, returned back to my family only later on to be sent back to other instituations, mainly due to neglect, but later on due to my running away from an abusive home.. my mother was religious, permiscuious but still religious, this turned me of religion in general but i liked and believed in the bible.

Expect JW's to actually grow over the next few years
by yaddayadda inthey had, what, an 1.6% worldwide annual publisher growth increase last service year?
contrary to many predictions, i think they will better that this service year (ending 30 september).
and i think there will be ongoing increases for the next few service years.

Its a culmination of things to the JW's not just the Middle East, but the weather changes, the earthquatkes, for example since 2005 March when the planets were lined up and the Earth turned and the amout of natural disasters has increased dramatically. Also the threat of Sars, Aids, and worry of a new Influenza virus is also part of the sign which JW look at, most other religions don't look at a composite sign. The season is ripe according to Jesus words, so tensions politically are one thing and that can change overnight.
There is sooooooooo much more happening with the inability to control the masses as increase of crimes, mental illness and of course the greed of capitalism, and it goes on. So point is it is not just the war in the middle east it is unrest everywhere, and the average Joe thinks of his hip pocket before he thinks of Iraq or Iran.

The Rumor Mill Never Stops
by R.F. instopping in here.. when i was an active dub i was always looking over my shoulder, making sure i was doing things "correctly"....and by "correctly" i mean by jw standards.
i'm referring mainly to when it came to dating and courtship.
someone always seemed to be investigating us, hounding us so to speak.

I find that those that tend to not gossip mind there own buiness are the ones that get gossiped about, because people want to know their buisniness and they don't talk.
So many cliques' and busy bodies in the org, I just turn of, and how many talks they have on gossiping and being a busy body, and they answer up and the next day it business as usual.
They can destroy people, and lack of love is so rife, cant' get disfellowshiped for it, but can hurt someone to no ends and they get away with it, that is wicked, yet someone out of weakness stuffs up and these wicked judgmental gossipers cant wait to stake them.

Sep KM Question box: Research on the internet is disrespecting the slave
by truthseeker inwell folks, if anyone here thought that the fds weren't being explicit about researching websites or checking the accuracy of the nw bible, you should have been in our hall.. some choice quotes from the "glorious ones".
the faithful and discreet slave gives us everything we need.
if we disrespect the slave we are disobeying jehovah god.. .

In other words, don't bother finding the truth out about us, we will not tolerate you, even if they have been proven to be wrong without a doubt they are right and it is you the over zealous b/s that is wrong for finding out and disrespecting the God ( GB/FDS) so therefore any knowledge you know even if right is wrong, because we never endorsed it, it fact you should be disfellowshiped for even having the hide to look at anything other than our publications.

The End of Jehovah`s Witness`s
by OUTLAW inwe see alot of topics on the board about the end of the wbt$..i don`t think that will happen in our lifetime........so..lets change our focus..kingdom halls are getting fewer and fewer jw`s in them..congregations are being dissolved and kingdom halls are sold off..many jw`s are very unhappy and we see alot of them on this board.....the wbt$ is a billion dollar organization, they will survive for along time to come..........how about the jehovah`s witness`s?.......with fewer and fewer members..information about the wbt$ on the internet..and..some very depressed jehovah`s witness`s looking for a way out of the cult they are in.....will the "jehovah`s witness`s" survive?...outlaw

Many new congregations are being shared in many area of the cities due to the influx of immagrants, mainly from Asia, many witnesses are learning Mandarin and Vietmenese, the face of the Witnesses is changing, the growth is with poorer counties in Africa as well as some Eurepean countries that were once communist, there is growth in KH building in these countries as well.
Everyone seems to be looking at KH being sold of and people not being interested whatever to be the end of Jehovah's Witnesses, but I don't think that will happen the WTBTS may crumble but that doesnt mean JW will, for some or many we don't know the WTBTS is their God, but for some or many Jehovah and not the worship of the GB is, so while the tower may fall JW may not.

How many ex-JWs world wide alive right now?
by Shawn10538 ini seem to remember some statistics on this but i'd like to find out how many you all think there are.
i remember hearing a statistic that i think came from the wt itself, stating that 70,000 jws are disfellowshipped every year.
so if every witness that has been disfelloshipped for the last 50 years is still alive, and we say that the average jws dfd a year is more like 50,000, that's 50,000 x 50 which equals - 2,500,000 ex-jws.

It was said at a meeting a few months ago that there was around 40,000 that were disfellowshiped or DA or left but the speaker a bethel brother said that around 90% always come back, but that would be over a period of time their coming back I mean.
There has actually been 3million that have left the org over the past 25-30 yrs, six million now and could have been 9million now. My guess is that most were not disfellowshiped for gross sin, many would have left for other obvious reasons.

Why is it that......
by JH ineach time i see jw's in the field service, and they see me, they will wave at me with a big smile as if we are still friends.......but when they aren't doing anything related to jw work, like if i see them at the grocery store, they wlll more or less shun me?.
i was taking a walk earlier, and a few sisters got out of a minivan, and were walking towards a house, and they saw me and waved at me with a big smile.
one of them was an elders wife.. i think that they want to show that they are serving god, and they are saying, "look how spiritual we are dear inactive brother.... .

Their showing how lovely and christian like they are in front of each other, afterall they are out in the field, it is all part of the game, and maybe they would want to set a good (hypocritical) example for one another. pooh

Bugger - Elder pops around for a visit unexpectantly
by WT=watchtrouble injust recently had one elder come around to see what what happening.
don't you hate it how they think they can just come around without calling first.
damn that annoys me.. anyway, he said whats happening mate, we haven't seen you.. i mention 607 and how secular works dont support this.

They call unexpectedly to see what you are up to, they do that thinking you may have gone back into the world and doing something unscriptual.
It really is rude to call on someone out of the blue, I've had that happen a few times and to me they appear like detectives. I don't answer the door if they come around uninvited or without notice.

Letter - Anonymity Required?
by Steady As She Goes ini am baptised and wish to write a letter to the brooklyn branch requesting a response to two belief-related issues regarding which i have recently educated myself.
the reply to this letter will likely play a large part in my determining how the rest of my life is lived.
i have decided that whatever i do or do not believe in times to come, i will not disassociate myself.

What Snakes says...and there is no way you can remain anonymous and expect an answer to your question as well. Give a bogas name and the address of a friend you can trust.
The Society holds no one personally important.

happend in 1919 Witnesses still celebrated Christmas and did other "wrong" teachings like used the cross up until the 40's or 50's? What exactly got cleansed?
I thought that was new light, thats what they would say, the catholics never celebrated xmas up until the early century so maybe they had the light before the JW's
