Do those of you "born into the truth" have problems with relationships?

    i'm a 4th generation dub and i was the epitome of a goodie-two-shoes elder's son.

i was taught/brainwashed that dating was evil and only for mature brothers (i distinctly remember a part on the assembly with a "demonstration" that said even 24 years old was too young to date and you should concentrate on becoming a ms or pioneer first) and went through so much soul-destroying guilt because of the society's utterly ridiculous stance on masturbation that it almost drove me to suicide.

didn't help that my father the elder had a massive porn stash.

Mmmm. I sort of had the opposite problem. I thought everyone who wasn't a JW were at it like rabbits non-stop, and that was normal.

I think you should take things slowly. Deeply engrained attitudes are hard to drop, even if you don't believe it in your head anymore. You are still referring to sex and romance and relationships as "immorality". My concern is that you might expect the first girl you date to fall into bed with you, think she's weird if she doesn't (worldly girls are easy) and think she is a slut if she does. Try to develop friendships with a mixed group of people. Consider some counselling.

    All the best!

Do you expect the man in the marriage to be strong.

my mother-in-law had surgery recently and when ever she does go through medical issues, it brings up something i wonder about.

you see, i think the man or husband, in the relationship needs to be strong at those moments.

to be the person who people can look to for updated information, perhaps to be the pillar of strength to keep everyone calm in a rough situation and so on.

Ex-witless hit the nail on the head:

He sounds like he's desperate for attention, even when he really doesn't need/deserve any. So when his wife - who is the one who should be getting the attention - is sick, maybe he can't stand that all the focus is on her. Therefore, he has to pull some 'heroics' so everyone will think "wow, look how strong he is, look how dedicated he is..." and he becomes the focus of attention. The only thing you can do in that situation is for everyone to NOT NOTICE his heroics; just ignore them but treat him like you would anyone in his situation. Or maybe someone should tell him "Look, all your drama and heroics aren't helping anything. Let's focus on getting your wife better..." I don't know. Just a thought.

And, on the subject of strong men: I got home from work on last night, running a temperature and feeling generally lousy. My husband had been looking after our son all day, and done all the grocery shopping for the week. He had prepared a light tasty meal for me which was on the table when I walked in. I normally take over looking after our son for the last couple of hours before bedtime, but I just slobbed on the couch and then went and got in the bath. Our son got in the bath with me for a few minutes, while my husband cleared all the dinner dishes. After he had put baby to bed, I noticed that the central heating was on. "I thought you looked cold, so I put the heating on," he said. Swoon.

This sort of thing makes me so mad. No-one should risk their health or life to earn a living. Has his employer been reported?

Anyway, yes, HF burns are serious. If he is still in pain, I think you should get him back to the emergency room. It may well just be muscle stiffness (I bet he jumped when the bottle exploded) - but better safe that sorry!

    Press Association
    Friday August 24, 2007 1:23 PM

The Attorney General has requested the case papers on freed paedophile Michael Porter so the Government can consider whether to appeal against his non-custodial sentence.

Porter, 38, of Okehampton Close, north London, was controversially handed a three-year community rehabilitation order after pleading guilty to 25 counts of indecent assault and gross indecency on young boys.

He had used his trusted position as a ministerial servant in the Jehovah's Witnesses to prey on vulnerable victims in Clevedon, Somerset, over a 14-year period. One of his victims was an 18-month-old baby.

Judge Tom Crowther opted not to jail the self-confessed paedophile at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday after hearing he had undergone therapy.

But the Attorney General's Office on Friday said it had requested the case papers to consider launching an appeal against the sentence.

A spokeswoman said: "The Attorney General's Office has asked for the case papers so consideration can be given to whether or not to refer the sentence to the Court of Appeal.

"A decision will be taken within 28 days. No view has been reached at this early stage."

The sentence provoked a furious reaction from victims' groups and the defendant's own sister, who branded the judge a soft touch.

Speaking on Thursday, Tina Hughes, 40, from Clevedon, said: "I'm absolutely disgusted. I'm very, very angry. We thought he would get a sentence of at least 12 months.

"I think the judge was absolutely pathetic. He just took my brother's side completely and believed that all he needed was a bit more therapy."

For future reference, the BBC website has a good recipe search feature, you can search on several ingredients or the recipe title.
