  Treatments for cold sores:

  Aciclovir (or acyclovir) cream - This is available without a prescription in the UK. The main brand name is Zovirax, but there are also generic versions which are cheaper. Application of the cream at the "tingle" stage can stop the sore developing. At worst, the sore clears up much quicker. Talk to your pharmacist. http://www.zoviraxcream.com/pdf/ZovrxCream.pdf

  Compeed, who make foot blister treatments, have launched a patch to apply to cold sores on the lips. It seals the area, makes the sore less unsightly, and is claimed to speed the healing process. It doesn't have any active ingredients, and you can't use cream with it because it wouldn't stick to the lip. I don't know if it is available in the US.

  I caught cold sores from my ex-husband while we were dating. I treat the sores with aciclovir cream. I have been with my current husband ten years and he hasn't caught the cold sore virus.

  It sounds like you find cold sores pretty repugnant. I can tell you they are painful and you already know they are unsightly.

  I am really glad someone married me, despite being afflicted with cold sores. Of course, if I had had a sore on the day of the wedding, I wouldn't have blamed him for calling it off.

  On the other hand, the Daily Mail is a misogynistic rag. While there are a handful of beauty therapists and PR executives who think it is cute to dress up their daughters as pre-teen prostitutes, this is not a widespread trend in the UK.

  overcompensating when leaving JWs?

  ever notice this phenomenon?

  seems like a lot of people that leave in their early 20s tend to become wild party animals as soon as they leave da troof, getting tattoos, piercings and the like and going almost overboard with it.

  anyone ever experience this?

  I think one factor in this behaviour is the way that JWs demonise everyone who is not a JW. We were told so often that everyone on the outside are drunk, drug-taking, sleeping around, smoking and swearing constantly, that we thought that was normal behaviour.

  i managed to end up right at the back of the field, so i passed the start line about 3 minutes after the start of the race.

  i completed the 5k in 43 minutes, which i was really pleased about as it took ages to get past the walkers and get onto some clear road to jog.

  Hi emo!

  Yes, the runners went off first. Because I knew I would be walking lots in between spurts of jogging, I stayed in with the walkers.

  I got to read more back signs by starting right at the back and passing people! It is all good.
