i know i'm calling it wrong, but you know what i mean.. did any of you make any of these type of trips, where, and any crazy happenings on them?.
I spent a week in the north-east tip of Scotland with a group from my congregation when I was a teenager. I don't remember anything particularly interesting happening. We did a mixture of rural and suburban territories. It was a very small congregation with a large territory.
In the UK we counted time from the first door, not our front door, so it ddidn't really matter where we stayed.

I popped out at lunchtime and jogged/walked 1.5K. I have spent longer with a map and a map measurer and a calculator than I did on the run, and I have calculated that I have shaved a minute off my mile time. I think I can put my improvement down to not bothering to monitor my heartrate. At this rate I will complete the 5K in about 50 minutes! I am sure it is possible to walk it faster......

i have had a relationship with a lovely girl whos been following the jw faith since birth.
she hasnt been baithized yet and planes to this year.
we were going to get married a few years ago but didnt due to problems not reguarding religon.
am i wrong by them being different from place to place?
Generally speaking, yes, you are wrong.
There are sometimes subtle regional differences (some areas have stricter dress rules, some areas are more tolerant of wealthy lifestyles) but these tend to be on unwritten rules.
The Jehovah's Witnesses are an extremely tightly controlled organization. The Watchtower literature which defines all their rules and beliefs is identical across the world. You will notice that we have posters here from across all of the USA and Canada, most of Europe and even some African countries. Our experiences of JW life are very similar. Anything written in a Watchtower publication applies everywhere.
With regard to your situation, if you stay together you will have to accept always coming second to the JWs. And be aware that persuading her to stop attending meetings and associating with them is not the same as her not believing it anymore. A lot of people leave or are thrown out of the JWs but still believe it and are plagued by guilt and fear of being killed by God at Armegeddon.

I think you may still get around faster than me, emo. I went to the gym tonight and it took me 15 minutes to jog a mile. 8 weeks to go, I can only improve!

I think this is the same report that was in the news and discussed in this thread in February.
I looked carefully at all the parameters measured in the report (most news stories only mentioned the overall scores in each section) and although there were some parameters I had my doubts about, I thought the overall message was worthwhile.
One parameter I have my doubts about is the measure of poverty. The measurement is of relative poverty (how a household compares to the national average) not absolute poverty. So, fairly well off families in very wealthy countries score worse than a family with the same standard of living in a very poor country. Apart from that, I don't see how you can NOT be worse off when you have kids. You have higher costs, and less income or childcare costs.
The most interesting thing to me is how quickly the news story sank, and how little interest it generated here. Who cares what is happening to our kids?

My initial reaction was that women have it easier in modern society. I think there are a lot more (acceptable) options open to women both socially and professionally than to men. I can claim the spaces traditionally held by men, but men can't move into the places traditionally held by women. I suppose that it is still a form of discrimination that it is seen as demeaning for men to adopt roles traditionally held by women.
I think that it is difficult for men to find their role in modern society. They are not the head of the home/breadwinner anymore and the traditional male manufacturing jobs have gone.
I hadn't considered the whole personal security aspect, but in my local town it seems that men can't go out for a drink without the risk of being badly attacked these days.
with the british pound now 2:1 against the us dollar will any brits here be vacationing in the us to take advantage of the exchange.
how will this affect tourism in the uk....

last night on the news a woman was told by a store manager that she could not in public breastfeed her child.
she and her husband were quite offended and complained to the company's main offices.
they are now looking into this situation.. what's your opinion?
Bottle feeding expressed milk is not always that simple. My boy wouldn't take a bottle until he was over 5 months old (just as I went back to work - phew). And why should I faff about with sterilising bottles and pumping when he can have it on draught anytime?
On the other hand, some mums do feel so self conscious about nursing that they prefer to bottle feed or hide to nurse. After all, bottles are for feeding and breasts are sexual, right?
