They would typically have to post collateral for a bond in the amount of 1.5 x the value requested. I would guess that a few of their buildings in Brooklyn should cover that. The actual cost for the bond is closer to 2-3%

Mormons are not JWs. Mormons participate in their government, go to college, run for office, accept blood, celebrate holidays, etc, etc. I dont think what Mormons do/tolerate is a predictor of what JWs will do. However, it is interesting that they are a cult that is maybe 75 years older than the JWs. Maybe with another 75 years of maturity, the JWs will also moderate and begin to enter the main stream.

I am not defending Mormons- they are just a different brand of crazy than JWs.

Watchtower's Billion Dollars of Property Cannot Be Sold until Outcome of Conti Appeal

30 minutes ago i just got off the phone with some important players in this case, and some things were relayed to me concerning a lot of details of the outcome of the last two days of court.

i am passing this on.

cynthia hampton, one of the main players in the candace conti case (and a close friend of 28 years), just informed me of a further, far more powerful move by the state of california against the watch tower bible and tract society of new york, inc.. by order of the superior court of the state of california - county of alameda (see documents below), until the watch tower's appeal, which won't begin until august 13th and will take up to two years to settle due to due process of law, has forbidden the watch tower to sell any more of its $1 billion in assets in the borough of brooklyn until the appeals case is finished, to assure they won't shelter their monies in the light of this most huge and devastating sexual abuse scandal ever to hit the watch tower society, and perhaps any other single-victim lawsuit.

They would be absolutely insane to let this sit. All they have to do is purchase a bond in the full amount of the judgement. Just a couple of their buildings should serve as sufficient collateral.

i came home the other day and found an invitation to the upcoming district convention in my door.

i don't believe these are left in the doors of the general public, so a well-meaning witness must have been thinking of me, even though i have not been to the kh in about 7 years.. the leading question on the front immediately got my attention, and made my jaw drop a bit.. i thought i would ask the forum, .

Wow- I remembered being there- checked out- eyes rolled back in my head- dozing off- waiting for the old coger to get it over with- hoping he didnt loose his place and start saying the prayer. I cant believe we convinced ourselves that this muttering was part of the "spiritual paradise" we were in. (The chance to be taught directly by the GB!!)

can someone post this in this thread please?

i don't know why the wife didn't get any jw calenders for 2012, but i was over at my dad's last night and looked through his for a few minutes.. in the upper right corner, it had a woman reading through a scroll, and i could swear it was referring to abraham and sarah.

now i'm no bible scholar, but i would find it pretty unusual for sarah to be reading through a scroll.

The real question is- why dont they show the rest of the story- Abraham tying his son up- putting him on the camp fire and taking out a big knife to cut his throat??

I cant believe Abraham is such a hero to so many religions. He was a religious fanatic psychopath!!
