They communicate with each other. But why haven't they developed vocalization to the extent that we have??? Because they didn't need it to survive. Thats the answer to every question. Why does this species have this ability??? Because they needed it to survive (those that didn't have it died) Why does that species not have a certain ability??? Because they could survive without it. I'm not neccessarily defending the position- just explaining it. As a lifelong JW, I feel that I really never studied evolution and so, really should not have any opinion on it until I look into it. The books that the Borg and most other creationist movements publish on the subject have one argument- "Life is complex- therefore there was a creator." Not a really sound logical argument......

I'm right there with you. I like this guy. He may be young- but he's the most inspiring thing this country has had in many years. Just a question- how's he floating with others in your area. Are white guys (and girls) in the south really going to vote for him??

Just curious. Where I'm at there's no issue. Except that Hillary is the presumed favorite.

Need some advice

i have not been on here in a long time but i have always valued the advice of everyone, so here goes.....i am dfd and my wife has never been a part of the org.

we are getting ready to have our first child in may.

my mother who is now living in patterson(at one of the motherships) speaks to me every 1 to 2 years.

I'm amazed at how you're handling this. I, like others, would be fuming. But you're approach to let her in is much more mature. You're right. Any chance at turning her around is worth it. There's no reason to let ideology come between family. You have to show her that you are bigger than that.

Why Do JW's not use Child care or Sunday Type School?

while i have only been to one meeting my entire life i have always found it odd that jw's don't use child care or sunday type school for children.

what is the reason for this policy by wts?

Thank goodness there isn't an organized Sunday School type program for children. The retention rate of kids staying in the Borg would shoot up I think. There would be an opportunity for professional indoctrination. And meetings wouldnt be so boring for kids, and irritating for parents. More teens would stick around, and more parents would enjoy the meetings (OK that last part is a stretch)

I say that the "Ignore the Kids" policy is having a predictable and positive influence. Please dont give the guys any ideas!!!

i know that the society frowns on internet use....but there has to be some out there.

i know several years ago i looked at several sites that had forums with lots of active and strong jw's.

if the jws have an average of 6.7 million publishers and there are 6.7 billion people in the world then simple math tells us the publisher to population ratio is 1:1000 .

i will update this thread as i get information which i do not have in front of me at the moment because i am at work.. in 1980 the worlds population was 4.5 million and yet there were 2.5 million witnesses - so the jw: world population ratio was 1:1800 .

I say that the reason for the pop in the mid 90's is the fall of the Soviet Union in the early 90s and the resulting increase "over there". Last years increase I can't figure out- Just all of the drum beating, I guess
