A priest can forgive your sins....BUT.....

by Terry inloving and forgiving are a huge component of jesus' message to his disciples.. in answer to the question as to how many times forgiveness should be offered to an offender, jesus gave the reply, "seventy (times) seven.
" (variously interpreted as either 77 times or a multiple of 70 times 7).. an example is given of a man who owed a considerable sum of money whose debt was forgiven.
this man failed to forgive a much smaller debt owed to him.

Take this:
During the British Empire many peoples world wide were slaughtered and opressed and enslaved by humans who lived their whole lives in 'SUPERIOR MODE'
And who believed reality was advantaged because they had GODS LOVE = true god with them.
It is the same = find a sinner and punish them cuz I am righteous and morally acceptable.
This still leaves us having to control those who set out to harm others - except of course when higher ups decree it to be a moral obligation.
Because a human lives a lifetime in relative luxury and accepted by their community does not place them divinely higher than one who spends their life behind bars. In fact the reverse could likely be more the case.
