The absolute knowledge that it was written men! And that it is the thoughts of men from thousands of years ago. And that if an all powerful God wanted to communicate with mankind He would do so to everyone in a fairer way than is being done in reality. The above proves to me that no book on Earth is the unique Word of an all powerful God that He feeds to all mankind. It is illogical to think otherwise - especially if God expects us to think logically. And ill logic is pointless anyhow!

The Bible - God's Word or Man's? - What Convinces You?
by sweet pea inhaving believed the whole bible, hook, line and sinker all these years i get the impression many of you have come to the conclusion that we should take it with a pinch of salt and not hold to it so dogmatically.
and some possibly believe in it just as much as you did when you were a witness.
to save me some time please, lovely people, as i am very lazy - could you share with me why you do or don't believe in it - what evidence there is either way and if there are any particular books that you found helpful in coming to your conclusions?

Court sentences rape victim
by Bumble Bee inreport: court sentences rape victimfri nov 16, 12:27 am et .
a saudi court sentenced a woman who had been gang raped to six months in jail and 200 lashes more than doubling her initial penalty for being in the car of a man who was not a relative, a newspaper reported thursday.. the decision by the qatif general court came in a case that had sparked rare debate about the kingdom's justice system when it surfaced more than a year ago.. in its decision wednesday, the court also roughly doubled prison sentences for the seven men convicted of raping the 19-year-old woman, the arab news reported on its english-language web site.. according to arab news, the court said the woman's punishment was increased because of "her attempt to aggravate and influence the judiciary through the media.".
she had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicting her of violating saudi's rigid laws on segregation of the sexes.. under saudi arabia's interpretation of islamic sharia law, women are not allowed in public in the company of men other than their male relatives.. the initial sentences for the men convicted of the gang rape ranged from 10 months to five years in prison.

It makes me very happy to know that a guy who has been on the 'divine' body by whose admonition many have been dis-fellowshipped on account of them not following advice direct from God Almighty, is now telling everyone it's not on the inside what people think on the outside. The wtbts wizards have had the curtain raised by red shoe Franz! This should be blogged to all jws with mobile phones! Amazingly he played a big role in WTBTS literature which they claim is inspired by the only God. So if he says it isn't and he wrote it, everyone should ask themselves some searching questions about the whole infrastructure of the organization and the emphasis they place on themselves as having a uniquely direct line to God - which Franz was alleged to have been using.

Much of what Tyrone said! I like to say what I think and see if I'm dumb or smart from the response I get. I can take a good point and discuss it or an education in something I need updating on. Maybe years of following makes me do this to make up for lost time. Pussyfooting leaves me knowing what I already knew and I love being intellectually stimulated whether on a topic I know about or by someone knowing I need a lesson! And I apologize to those who hate a 'steam off' but most days the keyboard is my only friend!

The God Delusion
by BlackSwan of Memphis ini've been wanting to post this for awhile, but didn't.. i said something about a year ago in regards to dawkins that i have to retract.
i had made a comment re him which was just rude and made more likely out of being scared or possibly just plain ignorance.
can't find it, but it's quite possible that some might recall it.

I would like to see a book by him dealing with human psychology/ sociology. To me there seems a high degree of religiosity in these fields of 'science' which has me questioning some assumptions in much the same way as I do religion. I wonder if science avoids them because of complexity and difficulty in assimilating sequences of variables? Or maybe I just don't know and the book already exists by another author. It does link in for me to the God question!

An interesting paradox to refute evolutionary theory on the basis of it being too slow. It seems you have drawn your line in the sand for others to step over. I can see why you were compelled you to do so!

We're all connected- Spiritual Atheism
by nvrgnbk inas you know, common theists believe in a literal "god" who supposedly created and rules the universe; while common atheists reject the idea of "god" altogether.. generally, spiritual atheists are people who do not believe in a literal "god" (thus the term "atheist"), but still consider themselves to be (often deeply) "spiritual" people.. for spiritual atheists, being "spiritual" generally means to have thoughts, words, and actions that are in harmony with the idea that we are all, in some way, connected - that the entire world can be thought of as one entity made up of smaller interacting entities.. therefore, spiritual atheists generally feel that as they go about their lives striving to be personally healthy and happy, they should also be striving to help the world around them be healthy and happy.
this empowering concept is referred to as "wholistic ethics".. although spiritual atheists do not believe in a literal "god"; they generally recognize "god" as an important and powerful symbol of the inter-connectedness and one-ness of the universe.
they see that, individually, everything in the universe is a part of "god"; and, collectively, everything in the universe is "god".

I love the idea of 'wholistic ethics' and its link in your post. It is a dream that I should be with a person who feels that way and we could enhance each others auras. Alas maybe it is too aspirational and will never be realized?

Asinine JW comments Part 2: The Sequel
by 5thGeneration inthere was a cia agent that was just caught for stealing secrets.. i took the opportunity to say to my sister: "well, i remember stories that the kgb infiltrated the society and got as high as district overseers!
" (thinking of course that she may question the "spirit appointed" part).. instead she replied: "i heard the same thing and that once they got there they realized it was indeed the truth and became brothers.".
can you say kool-aid?

How long before you tell people you were once a Jehovah's Witness?
by Trevanian inmost of the people i've met since i left don't know that i spent years of my life as a door knocker.. i have very dear friends who don't know.
i've even had lovers who didn't know.
my last partner knew, and found it vaguely amusing.. i guess i find it deeply embarrassing, although over the years it's become easier to mention it.

I don't mind who I tell right now and yes it is a turn off to any prospective would be admirers but I'm in the frame of mind where if I have to 'sell' who I am to fit their illusion then they're a complete turn off to me. Any one worth my time won't be impressed by bullshit which unfortunately rules out most all of my family! But at least I wont have to pussyfoot around peoples crystal glass delusions of grandeur!

Some "Upbuilding" Thoughts
by watson inoh....the mindset of some of the brethren.
your opinion?
something to ponder isn't it strange how a 100.00 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you put it in the contribution box, but such a small amount when you go shopping?.

It is true Gandelph the white that spending hours feeling like you are bleeding your soul dry is difficult enough, but when you think you are trying to convince others this is the best way to spend their lives is when you realize you may not be saving them but delivering them to a life of toil, worry and general unhappiness. So maybe you are now more in sync with life on Earth and realizing that's what you are anyhow.
